Really sad news. I was a fan of his when he first started producing. Had some really good cutting edge stuff. Wasn't a fan of his as he exploded in popularity, but still really sad news. I knew he had his struggles with addictions and alcohol. Didn't help that his management team were pure sharks and drove the poor kid into the ground with all the touring and partying he did.

RIP young man. Way to young to be gone from this world.

Guy created some of my favorite EDM tracks. Sad to see this happen to someone so young and talented.

That’s a damn shame. Such a young artist to lose, love him or hate him you can’t deny his impact on EDM the past 5+ years.

Really sad. One of the better ones.

Listening to BPM while driving around this afternoon and they were playing a lot of his songs and had other DJ's and people calling in to chat. Tiesto, Steve Aoki.. etc.. Sad day. RIP.

What was the name of that banned poster that stood in his own sink? He was a EDM guy. Thoughts and prayers man.

Still have fond memories of “Hey Brother” as the Flames intro music during the 2014/15 season...

So much talent gone at such a young age. I always recall his health issues related to partying at a young age and then it seemed that he grew up and out of it but who really knows. I feel like stars in this genre of music are the equivalent to rock and roll back in the day. A life of non stop partying that eventually catches up to many.

RIP.

Watched this doc a few days before his death, a good look at his talent and how they ran him in to the ground with touring.

I got to see Avicii Live at the Encore hotel beach in Vegas when I went there a couple years ago. Also got to see Ryan Kesler there at the same event before he got shipped to the Ducks, he almost got me kicked out because I took a picture of him.

Gonna miss Avicii through I have to admit I wasn't really a fan of his current music as I liked his older stuff better.

Was he is Muscat for vacation or is Oman a hotbed of EDM?

Dumb question: Why does EDM necessarily have to involve live shows and the whole club scene? Can't you just create the music and not perform live? I'm not even sure how electronic music creators 'perform' at a live show

It's still their tracks that they are pressing a button to play.

But it's the light show and party atmosphere mainly.

Ya, you could just create and not perform, but that could be said of any artist.

A good show will involve the producer actually creating the track live. So they have their soundboard, and whatever instruments they use and they build the music. So they'd have one set of controls for the base line, and another for symbols, vocals or whatever. But you can inject personality into the performance by varying the track quite a bit. Guys like the Chemical Brothers are masters at live performance and working the track to the audience.
