You'll notice I didn't say anything about his concerns themselves, just suggested to worry about things when they happen. He's of course free to worry if he wants, just seems a waste of energy to me.

It's a waste of time to worry about things that didn't happen yet! It's much better spending that energy worrying about other people worrying about things they shouldn't worry about!

Sports is all about predictions, speculation and opinions until you see the results occur. Just like you’re “wasting energy” posting on a discussion forum.

"Stop wasting energy worrying about things before we have a good sample size, it's still too early to tell."

"Stop wasting energy worrying about where things fell off the rails in the past, what's done is done."

How about we just stop talking about things altogether.

I do think if by the end of training camp Rittich or Gillies don't look any better that the team will think long and hard about signing Steve Mason.

I would like to see Parsons in a full preseason game before they do that.

I have a weird feeling neither Gillies or Rittich will step in and make a difference .

Parsons may not either but man he's fun to watch. What an athlete.

Are there any potential young back ups with starter potential that could be had for Gillies/Rittich + one or two of our young forwards. Trade from strength to cover a weakness ?

Well yeah, let's all agree that we're a) entitled to post, b) entitled to reply, and c) we're wasting time doing it. Certainly both Nelson's comment, and my subsequent ones, fall in this category.

We can start doing recursive analysis of who's wasting more time if anyone wants. You know, "worrying", "worrying about worrying", and then "worrying about worrying about worrying". I'll be honest, I've been wasteful replying each time, but it's a discussion board after all.

Really, it's no big deal. I never said Nelson couldn't worry, just suggested it's too soon.

Only young forward I could see make sense is Bennett. Last year of contract and has been regressing. Farther down in depth charts with recent addtions. Maybe teams would take chance that he's actually going to be a player.

Dube I would wait and see. Mangiapane, Foo etc not sure if they have much value.

Not sure what goalie is out there if Rittich/Gillies struggle.

I'm fine with trading Bennett personally. I've critised his game for years, and don't see him becoming more then a 3rd liner. So if we could get a good goalie for a trade involving him I'm fine with that.

Bennett under anew coach will show all the naysayers his value. Gully and his partners almost ruined Brodie and Bennett, but they will both rebound under better coaching and hockey environment. I believe Stone will also do much better under Peters. Gillies not Rittich will evolve into a very capable back up this year and position him as the starter next year with Smith signing one year $2.5 million contract. Parsons will have a great year in AHL

Spittin' chiclets had Hanifin on (with Eichel and others) on Monday, is pretty entertaining for those of you who like that kind of podcast. Interviews start about halfway through.

I hope you're right, those would be the best possible developments for the Flames' future success.

I'll be happy if you hit on 50% of those predictions.

The forward lines for tonight look pretty sweet.

I personally want Stone to be replaced by Andersson because I think Stone is a replacement level defencemen (and I have for quite some time now), but I know it probably won't happen given that Stone makes $3.5M.

I'm also still nervous about the goaltending. I know I caused quite a ruckus the last time I mentioned my concerns about the goaltending, but I still feel the same way.

But with what we have, this is my ideal lineup:

1. Gaudreau - Monahan (LH) - Lindholm (RH)
2a. Tkachuk - Backlund (LH) - Czarnik (RH)
2b. Frolik (LH) - Ryan (RH) - Neal
4. Bennett - Jankowski - Mangiapane

-On the first three lines, I think it's cool to have a LH forward and a RH forward so faceoffs can be won on both sides of the ice.

Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Valimaki - Andersson

Smith
Gillies/Rittich

Way rather play Neal with Jankowski and Bennett over Ryan and Frolik. I hope Frolik and Ryan are not getting 2nd line minutes like you suggest.
