Interesting that right hand side has such a big gap.

Kylington plays the right-side ....

Just saying...

Hadn't heard this, and it doesn't show up on EP but I believe you Drury.

Starting to think that Granlund may end up in Stockton to start the season as well, deservedly or not. So many NHL bodies (17 IMO) and he's the only one who can be sent down without waivers.

my feeling is that unless Treliving moves Raymond and another forward (Byron?), there's no way Granlund starts in Calgary. Simply too many bodies as of today and it doesn't help that Shore can't go down.

Yeap. Honestly, I'm going to be a little disappointed if they don't sign him and bring him over. Whatever team he'd be playing on over there won't be doing what they can to develop the kid....and rightfully so. Those teams top priority should be the team first, not the young developing player who will be leaving for NA in the next year or two.

That won't be the case here. Get him to NA, and develop him properly on the smaller ice.

I knew I was forgetting someone, I think you might as well put Nakladal on the right side for now. Unless he completely surprises at camp, he will be adapting to the NA game in Stockton.

Still a lot of ECHL/AHL depth that needs to be sorted out most likely. Looking like a pretty fiesty team though:

Agostino-Granlund-Poirier
Klimchuk-Arnold-Hathaway
Wolf-Elson-Smith
Van Brabant-Grant-Caroll
Marcotte (ECHL?)
Tousignant

Culkin-Nakladal
Wotherspoon-Morrisson
Kulak-Sieloff
Kanzig (ECHL?)
(???Stevenson???)

Gillies
(???ReturnofTheissen???)

I wanna see them get one more center so Elson etc are at LW. Especially since it's expected that Granlund will get many a callup. Or maybe they're keeping space open so no one's feelings get hurt when Jankowski goes God-mode all over the AHL playoffs.

Yeah, oops. I had him in my original post. Must have deleted him when I took Ramage and Acolatse out.

Doesn't he have to go CHL or can he right to AHL? I know from listening to Hakan Loob on Pats show that he believes Stockton is the best place for his development.

As he was drafted from his team in Sweden, he is not obligated to go to a CHL team. He can come right over to the AHL.

Returning to the CHL only applies if the player was drafted from a CHL team. If they are drafted from Europe, it's free game.

I wonder if Sieloff will stay on D or if they'll try to move him permanently to the wing. I believe he had a few games at wing near the end but finished the season as a D if I am not mistaken...?

He can go right to the AHL because he wasn't drafted out of the CHL. Similar to guys like Zemgus Girgensons and Hampus Lindholm, who also played in the AHL as 18 year olds. Potentially he could also play a year in Brandon and then go to the AHL as a 19 year old, similar to Patrick Sieloff two years ago.

Edit: I now see Drury already answered that, so nevermind. Stupid tapatalk.

I'd guess he'll return to defence. Sometimes a coach will move a defenceman to forward just to get him going and give him some ice time. When a player has been injured or missed some time, lost confidence, etc., the player may be a little hesitant. Going to forward seems to get them into the game where the chance of screwing up isn't that critical.

Another important note on Kylington is that Treliving said because Kylington is not a 1st round pick, he must be offered first to his Swedish team before they can assign him to the AHL or CHL. I assume this is part of the transfer agreement the NHL has with Sweden.

I don't mind him spending one more year in Sweden. I would think he'll have a chip on his shoulder, trying to prove he should be on the WJ team.

Hopefully there is some stability there this year.

I don't see a place on the NHL roster for Granlund and he is waiver exempt, I fully expect him in Stockton for at least the start of the season.

I think so also. He needs to work on faceoffs but he did lead the Flames in points per game for the first three months that he was on Hudler and Gaudreaus line. Still think Granlund has lots of upside.

Since our our AHL team will be critical to the development of our many prospects I would appreciate hearing opinions of the Stockton coaching staff. I previously saw some comments questioning Huska. Thanks
