what i'm hoping they do is since most people will be importing a ME2 character, have you start out at level 30 with all of your skills already and then you can level up to 60 in ME3 with a bunch more abilities. it would help keep continuity without having to reboot Shepherd again
I hope not... I want them redesign whole combat/ability system, which means Shepard would need a respec.
IMO ME1 was really really good, the single player was nice and long and the STORY was long...
ME2 was a big dissapointment for me, the combat system aside, the story was lame. it felt like 90% of the game was spent looking for your teamates and doing their sub-plots instead of doing the actual story. When the game ended i kind of went "thats it?"
Considering Bioware made KOTOR, one of the best games of all time with probably the best story for a video game ever... I thought they did a pretty piss-poor job of ME2.
No inventory, no open-worldness (IE, the level design was linear and there wasnt much exploring or anything like that), and gimmicky stuff like the resource finding missions kind of turned me off.
Our anticipation levels for Mass Effect 3 just went critical. Clint Mansell, the composer responsible for the seminal Moon soundtrack is also going to work on the tunes that you’ll hear as you sink hours into Mass Effect 3. He also worked on compositions for Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, and the more recent Black Swan.Mansell was also lead singer and guitarist in British Pop Group Pop Will Eat Itself. Supposedly, he’s also good mates with Trent Reznor who was responsible for the original Quake soundtrack. It’s a small world eh?
It's available now for pre-order through the EA store, but only as the basic package. I'm going to wait for them to release special editions before I make mine.
I pre-ordered the Collector's edition of ME2. I don't regret it at all.

I hope they really do a big version for ME3. I thought ME2's special edition was cool, but I want something big like with the Halo Legendary. Yes, I am a nerd but Mass Effect is the best series evar!
A few details concern confirmed squadmates, others are about Cerberus, and there's a some gameplay details as well. Some of you might not want to know any of this before you get your hands on the game, but if you need more Mass Effect 3 in your life then check them out below.
Squadmates that will be "playable to some extent":
Liara
Ashley or Kaiden (depending on your Mass Effect playthrough of course)
Garrus (if he survived the suicide mission)
James Sanders (not the 'sniper' from the early trailer, maybe he's a Colonel?)
According to the NeoGAF poster, there is a screenshot of Ashley with her hair down and "she actually looks hot." It would be quite the achievement if that is true.
Confirmed to appear, depending on choices in Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, but not as squadmates:
Wrex
Mordin
Legion
Anderson
Udina
The Illusive Man
Cerberus is apparently out to kill Shepard, though there seems to be little info about whether this depends on what you choose at the end of ME2. The Illusive Man will play a "prominent role."
Following the the events in the Arrival DLC, Shepard is "on Earth" for the trial (you know which one if you played Arrival) when the Reapers attack. From the Mass Effect 3 launch trailer, you already knew that Shepard was in space during the Reaper invasion of Earth -- that trial is probably held on a space station.
As for the combat and RPG elements, it sounds like BioWare is seeking a middle ground between the first two games. Skill trees are larger and powers will evolve several times this time. Weapons are still in the style of ME2 (a set list) but the weapon mods from ME1 return to add some customization.
The different classes can now use any weapon type, but their restriction is now based on the number of weapons you can carry. The Soldier can carry all weapons at once, and there's no info on the other classes but you can take your best guess on what would make sense for an Adept to carry.
Like in the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, there will be an interactive comic to let you catch up (as if you'd need to) and to make new key choices for another playthrough. Also, no multiplayer!
BioWare's Jarrett Lee has commented on the forums that they want to keep the story spoilers to a minimum this time around (captured here), saying "By the time the game ships you'll be mad about the lack of story info ."
That's cool, because even though I'd like to know the changes to the gameplay and the general idea of Mass Effect 3, I'd rather find out the rest for myself. Of course, this stuff comes from NeoGAF via GameFaqs, and without a Game Informer in my hands it's kinda hard to confirm any of it. Sounds legit enough to me though. Shepard.

Well that was short. Took me about an hour and a half playing on the mode above normal. On insanity it could be about 2+ hours, but for $7 it wasn't that great.
Shadow Broker is still the king of Mass Effect DLC.
I mildly agree Tyler (at least with Bioware) because as much as I love their games, their DLC is pretty pathetic outside Lair of the Shadow Broker which was good and Dragon Age Awakening (I got it for $20 though).
Everything else Bioware has released DLC wise has been bad to mediocre. I liked Kasumi's but $7 was too much.
Disappointed a trailer didn't show up, hopefully saving it for E3.....since the game has been delayed until next year. Some sweet screen shots up though.
I for one am happy it was delayed. Too many big games coming during the Fall to invest in Mass Effect 3. Skyrim, Gears 3, Battlefield 3, etc.
Also, from what I have heard (from the press release), is that the game will be even more dumbed down and simplified. I really hope the game turns out great like the first two, but Mass Effect 2 was already simplified too much, how can they simplify it even more?

Ummmm, everything I've read has said they're going back to more standard RPG elements like the first game.

Really? Link?
I just ask because, when I read the press release where the EA President announced the delay, it sounded like they were going more main-stream which would sort of mean simplified.
