Default Civilization 5

Civ 5 is coming Fall 2010!

http://www.civilization5.com/

The biggest change at first glance (only 3 screenshots right now) is the move to a hexagon based square.

There goes fall and winter for me. I have been playing this one since the first one came out.

Have logged wayyy to many hours on this series. I can only bet how much time has been spent playing them.

Its really an acquired taste though, people who have never played it can rarely get into the game.

Hexagon tiles will make a big difference, many of my strategies are based on defensive walls of troops, this just make that harder to do.

The new goggles also do nothing.

Yeah hex will be a big change, though welcome to me, I've played hex games before and like them.

Can't wait!

Finally they turn to a Hexagonal system. I like.

Hexagonal tiles will allow for a true globe shaped map. I like it.

If you do play Civ4, make sure to play with the Beyond the Sword expansion. It is twice the game than without it.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

I thought this was a few years away. I know it was announced, but I didn't think they were really doing anything on it. There was no information on the game at all, and then BLAM!

Civ is the greatest game franchise ever. And although I don't really play video games at all very much anymore, I will definitely pick this up.

Looking at the Title block on the main page the "V" kind of looks art deco. Very cool.

Nothing better then building the manhatten project and being the first kid on the block with a nuclear missile. Then launching it against your neighbour who you've had a treaty with for 20 years.

I like fireworks.

Loved me Civ II, played Civ III a bit, never bothered with Civ IV. Might have to play this one though.

Used to love playing my friends in Civ II cause they never figured out that the Library of Alexandria gave you everyone else's tech developments for a while.

The Manhattan Project is awesome for diplomacy. But not in the same way as real life. You just nuke everyone who doesn't like you to reduce their population to virtually nothing then build the UN to tigger elections. Everyone still alive will like you and thus vote you in as leader and you win the game.

Or else you leave the world a smoldering ruin.

I remember in Civ II everytime I nuked somebody the map changed as plant life and wild life vanished. I musta built and dropped about 75 nukes in one game and in the end there my own people were starving.

The only unfortunate thing was I would have a lot of protests because my military was always at war and I couldn't nuke my own cities to supress the protests.

I just played C4 BTS wan game on the weekend. And now civ 5.

I wonder if the tried and tested strategy of starting a city in someones territory and then gift that shat town to the computer will still work as a strategy

As a Mac user, I know I'll have to wait for a bit longer, which sucks, and may be the impetus I need to set up a dual boot. I've been playing since version 1! I heard rumors that they were going to come out with a new version of Colonization, too. I played that first one really a lot.
