Or, hopefully they both go Brayden Holtby and Philipp Grubauer, with Vladar pushing the team to a Division Title, followed by Markstrom taking them to a Stanley Cup.

Markstrom's remarks sealed the deal for Sutter to start Vladar, he wants Markstrom mad by sitting out not thinking he's bad at hockey.

I'm sorry, just wondering, I thought the game is on SN1.

Putting my Blasty jersey win streak at the dome on the line tonight. If they pull this off I might have to start going with more regularity.

You're out to lunch if you think Sutter is closing the door on Markstrom, who only a few months ago was putting the lights out in the first round against Dallas and a finalist for the Vezina.
Good goalies go through ups and downs and Markstrom has not been nearly as bad as some are leading to believe. On the other side, Vladar hasn't been nearly as amazing as some think either.
The bottom line for Sutter and the team is that you've got to go with the hot hand in Vladar when you need points to get back into the thick of the race. Sooner or later Markstrom will take his net back - that much I can nearly guarantee.

More recently Vladar has taken a step, but otherwise agreed.
in goals saved above average / 60 they rank ...
1. Sorokin +0.967
3. Vejmelka +0.895
28. Vladar +.078
33. Markstrom -.006
52. Demko -.786
54. Campbell -.892
Markstrom basically zero ... not helping nor hurting. Which isn't great for a core member of your team making $6M, but certainly not the boat anchor that some see him as.

I don't think that is what being at zero means (Natural stat trick has him at .43 goals above expected per 60). Zero is only a reference point created by the assigned chance to score from different shooting locations. Similar to how HP and Torque coss at 5252rpm, it's determined by the scoring chances they chose. I don't think it's meant as above 0 you help and below 0 you hurt.
I think the true test is to see where you fall on that metric compared to your peers. In that situation, according to Natural Stat Trick, of the 32 goalies who have played the most, Markstrom ranks 26th in goals saved above expected. That means 25 other starting goalies (for the most part) are better than him and helping their team more than he is. Relative to his peers he is much more in the hurting category than the helping category.

The Yotes are a young, fun team. Hoping to see a close game tonight — will be at the Dome wearing my Schmaltz jersey, lol. Let's say 4–3 Flames.

Woah, what? What the hell is this? How have you not been roasted for this comment yet?

Flames toque. Will cheer when both teams score.
Can't wait ... this is one of my favourite matchups of the year.

As soon as he breaks Turek's shutout streak record (time duration) for the Flames.

He always cheers for random players on the Flames, Coyotes have a lot of random players. Makes sense to me (not a slight, just an observation).
