He was great...but to say it's sad the Flames need goaltending like that to win the game?

Calgary was the better team

I thought the team played very well overall. Mangi getting hot, Backlund seems to be playing with way more confidence this year. Huberdeau really needs to start making things happen. I thought Kadri was actually better tonight.

It's frustrating that Sutter is refusing to really limit his 4th line to "rest" his top three lines. They are not in a playoff spot and their best players will be extra extra rested if they only get 16 minutes a night and then miss the playoffs.

Great to see Mangiapane coming around. I thought Dube was pretty effective with him as well.

Backlund and Ruzicka were fantastic. I also thought Weegar had another strong game

Vladar wasn't overly worked, but I thought he preserved the win with a couple keys saves when it was 3-1, allowing them to go up ice and make it 4-1 and close the deal.

Might be the quietest game I've ever seen out of him. Was kinda weird. Plus that team is hammered with injuries. Not the Caps team I'm used to.

You’re discounting the intangibles that some combination of Lucic, Rooney, Lewis, and Ritchie bring to the team.

Need to make sure three of those guys dress and play a lot every night , especially Lucic.

And if they get caved in while they are on the ice it doesn’t matter anyways, because the 4th line isn’t supposed to do anything positive and are supposed to be bad anyways. Except not actually bad because intangibles and that’s good even if not actually measurable in any way except old hockey guy talk.

Vladar was great tonight but it is depressing that this team needs a great goaltending performance to secure two points.
No, all they needed was for him to do his job.

And no team can win in the NHL with bad goaltending

Two of those were scored after Kuemper was removed from the game. Up until that point the story of the game was two goalies having a goalie battle and our goalie winning it. It well could have gone to OT with Kuemper in net the whole game, which really drives home how important strong goaltending is. Put Markstrom in, and we are probably trailing when Keumper leaves the game, and suddenly those rush chances leading to goals 3,4 do not happen due to the opponent going into a 1-3-1

That seems a whole lot closer to what I expect from Flames hockey: fast, hitting, quick-thinking and ....goal keeping!

Rosie is blossoming with his new linemates...this is great to see!!

Thought the whole team was pretty much on it tonight, some with more results than others...but everyone seemed pretty keyed on the puck. The PK was great, the PP awful. As in really awful.

Players seem to blossom when they are on Backlund's line, Mangi before and now Rosie.

They allowed 3 high danger chances...half of what they allowed against Montreal.

"Probably trailing" seems like piling on

Flames scored two on both goalies...it's not like Kuemper was unbeatable

im sick of it, he is probably the only coach in the nhl right now not allowing his top players the opportunity to put the team on their shoulders and get it done, they need to know they are the top players by giving them the ice time. I think Huby should be more at 23 minutes a game.

This year players are blossoming when they’re on Ruzicka’s line. Lindholm and Toffoli actually looked like they could score when he was with them.

Feel the defence, and moreso the puck control during breakouts still is suspect (which is killing the PP), and needs to improve, but the result of course is what matters, and it was a good one tonight.

If Mangi is starting to finally heat up, an can be more of an offense threat, that's big for the team. An Ruzicka had a great game. Definitely happy he's been making such a strong contribution in the lineup. Has he found a home yet?
