Yay to Vladar. Sad they’re just rearranging chairs on that awful fourth line instead of cutting those players like they should.

Yeah pretty striking.
I love the traditional jerseys 100x more, but I am enjoying a limited time change.

It's wild that they're taking out guys like Ritchie — who has been fine — when Lucic just gets to go back in every night.

The hate for Lucic lately is getting a little much.
I was more with you when he was moved up the roster, drove me nuts, but I see his value as more than the last time he scored a goal given his role in the room and intimidation.
Ritchie was benched for all bout 4 minutes last game, not a huge shock to see him come out.

Lucic has been awful. He's last on the team in every major statistical category. There's no justification for him still being in the lineup. I harbor no ill will against him whatsoever, but there's no reason why he should be escaping the rotation to the same extent as guys like Ritchie and Rooney when he's been worse than both of them.

Ritchie has 5 goals and is a +2, Rooney is not a comparable at 0G, 1A, -2, looking past the numbers Ritchie crashes and bangs out there, Rooney is invisible.

Looch should be munching popcorn if Sutter was wanting to slot Rooney back in; Ritchie has been our most consistent 4th liner and it’s not close

Ritchie has also been banged up and missed games hurt this year. Maybe there is more than meets the eye in some decisions and everything isn't as black and white as fans see.

Every statistical category?
First one I looked at, ... the most pertinent one for me as he's a fourth line guy, xGA60 he has the entire second line behind him then Lucic, Ritchie and Rooney in order.
As with everything these days ... extremes. Getting to be a little much.
I'm not making the "Lucic is the best player on the team" argument. I'm saying when you have a fourth line and you want to make a change, he brings something to the table that the other guys don't that isn't measurable by your " last on the team in every major statistical category".

Rooney has struggled the most out of the fourth line guys for sure. But if they have any plans around making him part of this he has to play once and a while.

Last in SCF%
Last in HDCF%
Last in xGF%
Isolating for defensive results is fine, but that's if you want to exclude scoring as part of the role of the fourth line. And either way, his xGA/60 figure is still really, really bad (as is the second line's).
It might be getting to be a little much because it hasn't changed. But there's no metric by which Milan Lucic is an NHL player these days, and it's weird that Darryl hasn't taken him out.

Fair enough and quite plausible, the point was also to illustrate the lack of contribution from Rooney, not looking to witch hunt the guy as much as objectively improve the roster by replacing him. Dube centering the 4th line would be an advantageous option.

Caps sitting outside playoffs and still missing key players in Backstrom, Wilson and orlov
Flames need to capitalize or they're starting to lose alot of ground.

He’s been our worst forward by literally every single metric.
He’s a liability defensively this year, is getting caved in when he’s on the ice, provides no offense, take too many penalties, hasn’t had a fight all year,
Time for him to eat some popcorn. If he wasnt a Sutter favourite he’d have been benched 10 games ago like Rooney.
|
Yup. He’s been terrible, provides nothing, and hasn’t even fought. He should sit and isn’t an everyday NHLer anymore

Lucic could probably stand to sit a few but will surely play until they figure out some other issues first I think. On the list of priorities, his lack of offensive production is way down there. The one thing I noticed with him lately is him hitting someone and bouncing right off. Strange for the big guy.
