I'm hoping that at least one of us CPers will be attending the open tryouts in January?
(and MillerTime GFG, we don't need to hear about your age being a factor...you have over a month to get in shape for this!)

I believe in the Jays.

I’d be tempted to go for third string keeper as long as they still let be be in the supporters section during games.

They should have a session just for "No-name amateurs reaching end-of-athletic-career-age and looking for one last shot of glory".
I'd sign up.

What they should do is let all of us who regularly attend and have plenty of opinions play a scrimmage against the boys. We’d get wrecked, it would be hilarious and maybe we’d realize we aren’t quite as astute as we think we are!

Would we get wrecked? I feel like we could give 'em a proper go. I mean, Iron Maiden beat FC Edmonton, surely we can get a victory too compared to those ghouls.

No offence to anyone, but when I look around the stands in the supporters section, athletic prowess doesn’t spring to mind. Maybe we’d have a shot at something less athletic…like bowling? But I have no doubt that a guy like Escalante blows by most of us and it’s 1-0 within a minute or two!

Hot dog eating competition for the win, just mainly because the players probably watch their diet/nutrition

Well, we could all fill the goal in a tangled web of shameful supporter humanity, blocking every conceivable part of the net so the Cavs can't score, and end in a 0-0 draw. Additionally, we could also pay Escalante to score on their own goal at the 90th minute.
Like Adidas says on their World Cup commercial - when soccer is everything, impossible is nothing.

Because I am a huge nerd had some cycles to kill during work today, I counted the number of season tickets sold on Ticketmaster. Counted 1661 sold. That doesn't count the 450 or so Big Rock section tickets that are blocked off.
200, 201, 105 and 107 seem to be the sections with the most tickets sold. Oddly enough 109 barely has any sold, which is surprising.
IIRC Cavalry had 2200 season tickets last year and ~1400 of them were renewals from 2021 so that's a decent renewal rate with 4 months left to market.

1661 to me is an excellent baseline for season attendance, especially when you consider how many have bought parking passes.

I think that's more important work than anything your job probably requires you to do. Nice counting, that's a great start.
I'm one of the few in 109 that are sold

Just saw this...I actually seriously contemplated going to them just for fun. Tommy and Leon would have a howl when I step on the pitch, so it'd be worth it just for that...
But then I remember seeing the videos of last open tryouts, and they do fitness testing, so I'm out. Too busy fitness pizza in my mouth.

I tried to convince a guy I know to go. He claims he will, which would be hilarious because he’s in terrible shape, but it’s $250. It’s a good idea, because they don’t need a bunch of guys showing up for a laugh.

I can't remember which open tryouts it was, but Tommy was telling me within 30 minutes he knew there were ZERO potentials, yet they had to still go through the whole process.

Yeah and from reading the email, my guess is he’s not running these himself now? Like it’s probably a couple others who drew the short straw that run guys through their paces. Then if they have anyone worth seeing, Tommy comes to the scrimmage on the 3rd day.

If that’s the case then it’s probably better for us to try and get in the half time games with the little kids.
