I'm not going to speculate on why he's not here but I get the feeling he's not coming back anytime soon.

He just prefers the weather in Sweden.

Shush, no one is allowed to mention Kylington. We must obey Steinberg et al who seem to get off on reminding folks that they know what’s up, while rebuking fans for asking.

Surely you can see the difference between posting a link with recent updated information about Kylington, and the incessant wonder and speculation amid the surrounding periods of silence about where he is and why?

If he's on a published podcast distributed on major streaming services, then it's public record. Any of our forum Swedish speakers care to weigh in?

From what I can tell, that podcast was recorded in the summer and extremely unlikely to shed any light on his current situation.

Get off your high horse. Tiresome. People care about the guy and it's human nature to want to know more to understand what's going on. What are you his agent?

If he doesn’t play all season does a year of his contract pass ? (Are Flames paying him right now ?)

I would assume this year burns and he moves on to year #2 next season in that case. I would also guess that the team would be getting close to a drop dead date at some point soon internally. You can't expect Kylington to come over and get up to speed after game 40 of the season in any meaningful way.

Too bad as he was a really huge asset to the team last year. Hopefully he is going to be available next year.

I don't think the Flames would be putting any pressure on Kylington to come back by a certain point or not come back at all this season, and it would be inappropriate to do so given what's going on with the player. If he wants to come back at any point, they will allow. Whether he is effective or stays in the lineup, that's definitely a question if he is a step behind. But players get injured in game 1 and come back months later all the time, so a drop dead date doesn't seem reasonable to me.

How effective was Nikita Kucherov when he returned for the playoffs after missing the whole season? 32 points in 23 games. Not to say everyone can miss a large portion of the schedule and be as productive as Kucherov but I don't think there's a hard and fast rule that could be applied to a player's ability to contribute effectively.

~So it was a canned interview released months after the fact, shedding no light on his current situation.

I disagree, at some point management has to make a business decision. I would also like to think the player would step up with some type of decision as well.

So you know what's happening with the player?

Because everyone else is just wildly speculating, and wildly speculating that it's inappropriate to ask the player about is just as bad as any other wild speculation.

IMO though this has gone far past the point of reasonable. It's now entirely reasonable for fans and followers of the team to wonder WTF is happening. The dearth of statements from the player and the team are puzzling, and frankly troubling. Tre's initial statement becomes less relevant/ more interest inducing all the time. If Kyllington doesn't want people to speculate, then he should control the narrative and release a statement about what is happening. Otherwise, he should rightly anticipate people speculating wildly about his current whereabouts and intentions to return.
