Mike Ashley doing Mike Ashley things

Quote:
Coventry City have been issued with an eviction notice by the new owners of the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Former Newcastle owner Mike Ashley's Frasers Group took over the stadium last month after buying its three former operating companies. They say the Championship club has no continuing right to use the ground.

Club officials were informed on Friday they must return keys and access cards and an FA Youth Cup game on Saturday was switched to Leamington Town FC.

You can kind of feel for Geordie fans....who is the real oppressor? The brutal Saudi regime or the brutal Ashley regime?

It was really a 'Sophie's Choice' scenario.

Is there really a choice between a cheapskate and the world's foremost sugar daddy?

Final count given that any remaining players that are there are now there till the completion of the tournament.

Top teams benefited immensely from QF results with vast majority of players coming home.

Losers. Arsenal on the back of Jesus injury and United with central back pairing playing right to the end.
And Spurs with three still involved and the Kane hangover factor.

Which means..... Klopp will be the biggest moaner!

However! They're playing no more games than they normally would at this stage of the season, there's a ten day break from the final to the first PL game so I'm saying none of them have anything to complain about just now. Until the fixture congestion starts to pile up in the New Year.

Short term. Not as impactful as most thought for the top teams given the early exits. Long term. Time will tell.

Can Murtough buy Gvardiol before he pockets Messi tomorrow?

After tonight's performance you might be able to get him on the cheap.

It takes a special event where Dejan Lovren looked like your best defender.

I’d take him. He’s going to be good and really, he’s not the first CB that looked foolish against Messi.

Oh he looked pretty bad against more than Messi.

Yeah I didn’t get to see the whole game today and just caught pieces. Even so, I’m not sure that he’s wrecked? Could still be a one-off and he comes around just fine.

Gonna enjoy the bidding frenzy for Gvardiol. He looks good but likely to be a World Cup overpayment.

no idea how he did at the WC, but Chelsea was already bidding €90m or so for him this past summer. Wherever he goes, the price tag was always going to be ridiculous.

Saliba > Gvardiol
Bahaha. Surely you’re just hoping for a reaction. Has Saliba even played in the World Cup?

Yeah, I thought it would be fun to get your reaction in particular

Saliba did sub in one match in the group stage to answer your question though; obviously getting into the French squad vs Croatian squad is different.

Saliba aside, will be interesting to see what someone pays for Gvardiol and if he is indeed the best defender in the world.

another wrinkle to a possible United sale: the kit sponsorship with TeamViewer is ending early after both sides have come to an agreement.

Sounds like united built in an option to break early, probably because it was a lower deal than expected as it was signed during covid

Nice to see the league return this morning! Spurs were right back in form and it’s like we never left! Down 2-0 and the clawed back for the 2-2 and had chances to win.

I still have no idea what the point is of VAR, and extra time was just plain dumb. Some things haven’t changed a bit!
