Default Does Dube make the team?

I fricken love watching this kid. 3rd goal and counting tonight against the grease! Love what I've seen so far this year and last year (3 points in 3 pre season games.) Kid looks like a winner and is definitely making a statement this year.

This kid is so ready. He needs a good long look for sure. Hopefully Bradley is watching

Hard to say because he's only played against the terrible Oilers but I think he should get a look with some of our top players next week. If he can keep up he definitely deserves a spot over Foo/Hathaway/Mangiapane/ Lazar

There's spots there. He looks great but this is the Oilers rookies. He'll get a long look with the main roster I am certain of it. Does he make the team? Well, maybe. He's doing what he has to do so far.

Barring a rash of injuries or a big trade, I think the Flames would rather he tears up the AHL as a first-liner than fourth line duties on the big team.

He does seem determined though.

For a serious answer, it is too soon to discuss. It's all about building as the games get tougher.

The rookie games against the Oilers got him the #1 C spot for this game. This game will get him more looks when the full team is back.

But in order to make the roster, he is going to have to be able to keep impressing as the competition picks up.

So far so good though. Everything he does looks good, it isn't just the points. Really impressive so far. And it is just a matter of time for him to be in the NHL.

Yeah, I think so. I mean, he needs to play against the top competition still but he hasn't had a misstep yet. If he continues on this trajectory, he'll be impossible to unseat. I think this guy could be a lot better than people think, maybe even a middle-six guy as soon as this year.

If he doesn't it's because there's no room not because he doesnt deserve it.

Personally I play him over Lazar or Hathaway but realistically he doesn't make the starting roster but is the first call up

Yeah but they likely don't have spots that he can steal. The only chance he has is 4th line LW. And that is between him, Rychel, Mangiapane, and maybe Frolik (if someone else steps up on the right side, moving Frolik to the left)

Another game or two of this and he probably should - as a regular beside Jankowski.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Neal
Dube/Ryan - Dube/Ryan - Czarnik
Bennett - Janko - Frolik

3rd and 4th lines equal time.

He's certainly making a case ahead of Hathaway, Lazar, Foo, Klimchuk, and others.

I'd love to see his drive on the Jankowski Bennett line.

I don't see how he's made a case ahead of the bolded yet, seeing as how they have yet to play this pre-season. They do have a high bar to climb above, though.

Also, a line with Dube, Czarnik, and Ryan might be the fastest Flames line since Lombardi played here.

Give him the 9 game audition at the start of the season and then decide.

Like they showed with Tkachuk and few seasons ago, they won't hold anyone back. But during Tkachuk's 9 game audition before committing that 10th game to him, he had to show that he could be more than just a scorer.

I like the idea of him on Backlund's line:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Jankowski - Neal
Bennett - Ryan - Czarnik
Dube - Backlund - Frolik

(in no particular order)
