I feel stupid because of all the thanks, but what happened here? I see cut off words (even in the actual linked tweet) and then Leah Kessel saying we've already won the battle of Alberta? Is it just the "No, it's August" thing?

Yes. Neal made Connor look silly. Of course, up north they will be all"this shows Connor works in the offseason and Neal doesn't".

Optimistic enough about the required changes that BT made this offseason with the coaching move, trades, depth, and ditching Brouwer, that I almost forget about the Neal addition at times. Proverbial cherry on top.

There's a decent number of doubters still despite the really strong moves by Treliving. Funny that hockey people have no qualms with playing up the if everything goes right scenarios for the oilers (Which they're gonna need), but suddenly it's tough love and pessimism with the Flames despite the GM doing nothing short of jumping through hoops this summer.
I really want to see this iteration of the team kick ass right off the hop to prove these guys wrong.
Hopefully the top line can gel from day one.

Is it safe to say we’re done recruiting slow lumbering power forwards on excessive salaries?
If there’s a market for James Neal at the deadline, I’d be tempted to part ways just to get the cap off the books.

How about no.
Neal is looking good and provides depth. What happens if Lindholm gets hurt? What happens if Gaudreau goes down?
Who steps up? Who has the ability to slide up the roster?
Our depth is one of the reasons we’re at the top of the division. No matter what some panic-stricken armchair GMs say, Neal is part of that depth. If Neal was Brouwer, his line would be getting destroyed nightly and losing us games. Instead, we’re at the top of the division.
Like...what the hell is going on. Why do some fans feel the need to focus in on some perceived negative.
We’re the best team in the division. This league is about winning games.
Just friggin’ enjoy it.

The Flames have a 5.75 million per year insurance player. Brilliant strategy. And what if Johnny goes down?...we can’t slide Neal into that spot ...he’s way to slow for that top line.
If we can’t extend Chucky next year due to Neal’s salary cap hit then I’ll be pissed.
