Perhaps his offer was perceived by his camp as beneath him? It's very doubtful that it was a spot on either of the top 2 lines, and I can respect that Iginla probably wants to be put in a place to succeed, or else he'll just retire.

Funny. We heard from a couple others, including my friend that also posted here, that Iggy had reached out to Calgary for an opportunity.
The simplest explanation might be the Flames made an offer after Iggy reached out, but it wasn't what Iggy was looking for (contract wise or with his offered role maybe).

Iginla Destination Discussion
I would love to see iginla come back to Calgary and I still think he would make the team better... but at this point it's feeling like Boston will be his destination. He had a fantastic season there and he has a beautiful brand new home there. The Bruins probably assured him a spot but want to get Pastrnak signed first to know what their cap looks like. I just hope the flames and him at least had a real conversation about him coming back.

I too think Iggy would be a better fit than Jagr. He has that toughness that our team needs, especially with the loss of Engelland. You can look up quite a few vids of Iggy standing up for his teammates in Colorado. But I'd be fine with either.

Sometimes the obvious explanation is the right one. He built a house in Boston and undoubtedly would like to live and play there.

Iggy shouldn't be turning down offers from anyone if he wants to play another NHL game.

I agree with this. That being said, maybe he looks for that number one deal two or three months in. A contending team will be looking for a guy like him.

Maybe playing another NHL game isn't all that matters to him? Or maybe he has another offer?

Really? "obvious explanation" is Boston only?
To me the most logical explanation would be not many teams interested in Iggy. The ones that are interested, are probably offering PTO's or league minmum contracts.
No contenders wanted Iggy at the deadline and they could of had him for a bargain. He eneded up going to LA ( who i didn't think had much of a chance at playoffs) for 50% retained salary and a conditional 4th. I'm pretty sure condition was they had to make playoffs or recieve nothing. I would also add that LA was a slow team to begin with, and Iggy looked slower than most on that team.
Right now I only see Iggy getting signed if there are injuries durring camp or start of the season.

I can't imagine any teams have the room on their roster to fit him in, bargain AAV or not. Let alone ones that he'd actually think about going to.

Tree hinted at a PTO or two, the fact that it hasn't come out who those PTO(s) are is intriguing....

I am suggesting that Iginla would obviously like to play in Boston.

I believe fitness testing for the main training camp starts on Thursday with on-ice sessions beginning on Friday.
Something will have to happen, one way or the other, in the next couple of days for both Jagr and Iginla.
