Calgary Lab Services or whatever the hell the UCP sold them to for ‘improvements’.
Doc: hey you really should get this done today so we can have results tomorrow, it’s urgent.
CLS: lol stand in line for an hour just to book in and be told the wait it too 4 hours long and they close in 2. But hey, go to this site they’re not busy.
*rush to other site*
CLS: we stopped taking walk ins 5 minutes ago, yes yes I know online says we’re still open. We open at 7 tomorrow.
Also CLS: appointment? Lol, hope your doctor didn’t call it urgent cuz the next available is in like 6 weeks.
Really, you conservative clown shoe government? This is an improvement?

Of course KD changed. They openly talk about it. User error lol. They got rid of the delicious chemicals and preservatives.

KD is and always was terrible.
You were just a kid before and now you’re an adult.

It has been awhile since I've bought it but Bulk Barn has some cheese powder that was/is pretty good. Buy a bag of elbow macaroni and that cheese powder and go to town with some quick and cheap mac and cheese.

BUT has anyone else noticed that the pasta noodle has changed as well? It isn't as sturdy/robust as it was years ago. When I boil it (not over boil, 7 minutes), it shreds and comes apart in the water. The texture is gnarly. FU Kraft, you make it harder to be a parent nowadays. How they can sell it for over $1 a box is beyond me.

I haven't had the regular stuff in forever so maybe that's why, but the Kraft dinner made with cauliflower pasta still tastes fine, and the noodles have good texture. I made the switch when my 3-year old became a picky eater and KD was one of the few meals she'd happily scarf down, and figured the veggie pasta was at least a little healthier than the regular one. I also mix it with brown beans which she loves, so at least there's some fiber in there too

Slight changes like a decade ago.
I think you have to face the facts that the pasta with the included powdered cheese packet may never have been of the highest quality, but if you’re making KD and it comes out as shredded noodles that taste like an #######? Yeah… that’s on you.

They have made “throwback” versions of various products, like Chef-Boyardee ravioli, maybe they’ll make one for KD and put this “it used to be good” debate to rest.
Now, I don’t think KD has ever been great, but if you compared it to store brands a long time ago, it was superior to them. That gap has really narrowed though from the days of grainy no-name mac & cheese.
I prefer just making a cheese sauce from a roux, and using the type of pasta I prefer.

I noticed the change instantly, so I cut out the cooking instructions from the old box and have them taped inside a cupboard door in my house. I still make it with three tablespoons and it's still incredibly delicious.
If your noodles are falling apart, you're the worst KD chef on planet earth. It must be removed from the boiling water while it's still a bit hard. This is because the noodles are so skinny that they'll keep cooking for a while even out of the water. After you strain them, you need to have already measured out the milk and margarine (butter on KD is nasty, IDC what anybody says) so you can instantly mix everything into the noodles to cool them down so the cooking stops.
If you're making bad KD, I suggest you call Strugglers Anonymous because that is ridiculous.
|
Sorry Sliver, but if you need to refer to the instructions for KD, you may qualify for Strugglers Anonymous too.
I think they only ingredient change was replacing yellow die # whatever with paprika. I'd imagine that influenced the flavour a little.

I've had an accessible parking placard for 23 years and I have never had an awesome experience parking during Xmas... The designated accessible parking is just as occupied as the other stalls during Christmas in my experience.
I always love it when the assumption is great parking when most of the time the designated parking is terrible and poorly designed or the parking stall is an overburdened snow receptacle or the stall is occupied by a Skip driver or...

Making KD is a science. I mean, I'm at work right now and can tell you it's three tablespoons of margarine and 1/4 cup of milk (2% is best, but we only ever buy skim or 1%, so I have to suffer a bit). But if I ever get amnesia or Alzheimer's or something I need to be sure somebody will make it for me the way I like or else I'll be the guy throwing full bowls of it at the wall.

That change didn't do nearly as much as dropping the butter/marg by 1/3. Probably did it just to have lower calories per serving or something, but it did make it way worse. Try bumping it back up and you'll taste the KD of your youth.

Ketchup or no ketchup on KD?

Pepper for sure. Not a ketchup guy anymore, but I used to like it when I was young. No judgement on that one from me.
I don't really put salt on anything except popcorn.

Years ago when the deluxe first came out, they had a cheese and broccoli flavoured version that was amazing. I've tried dehydrating broccoli, with no success in duplicating the stuff their's had

I liked it when they made that one version with tomato/cheese powder. And the egg noodle one. They always discontinue the good stuff.
