Shots 7-4 for the Marlies.

Reinhart took an interference penalty. The Flames killed it. Then just after he stepped out of the box, Reinhart batted it out of the air into the stands and got a delay of game penalty. Marlies made it 3-0 on the ensuing PP.

No Wotherspoon is game over from the start, basically. He was going to be the one to shut down Leipsic and Nylander.

...I mean we are going to the playoffs for sure. With a 3rd and 4th string goalie (at best) backing the team. 6 saves on 10 shots. I might actually be able to do better than that.

Flames out shot the Marlies 40-24, but lost 7-4 with an empty net goal against.

The usual suspects lit up the score sheet once again.

Poirier with 3 assists (all primary)
Arnold with 1 goal and 1 assist
Agostino with 1 goal and 1 assist
Reinhart with a goal
Kulak with a goal
Acolatse with an assist
Hathaway with an assist

Carr got yanked after allowing 3 goals on 7 shots, the newly signed Desserres took over and allowed another 3 goals on 16 shots.

Hate to say it folks, but I think it's pretty much over now. Adirondack will not be making the playoffs this year. This win would have put us in 9th and with a small chance to make it. Right now, we HAVE to win every last game and hope for teams like Toronto, Hamilton and Milwaukee to lose every game. It's not realistic anymore.

Yeap, really unlikely.

Too bad Ortio got hurt. Have to think that with him healthy, this team is likely still in a playoff spot. The goaltending has been pretty bad.

I'm not sure. I think they would have been still fighting for one, but probably a little closer then they currently are. Our offense went really cold for a good stretch while he was injured, we were shut out twice and only getting 1 goal. I think Ortio could have stolen a few wins for us, probably in those pond hockey style games, but I don't know if we'd be in a comfortable playoff spot if he was healthy.

I'm very interested to see how the Flames (NHL or AHL) deal with the goalie issue in the offseason. Ortio is gone, that's a certain. We need someone to start or share the starting job in Stockton so they have a fighting chance because we can't just throw Gillies in there and expect him to survive all year.

I'm really eating crow right now. I must've been blinded by the brilliance of Doug Carr last season. I honestly thought he was going to be a pretty decent goalie at the AHL level.

Guess I was wrong.

It wasn't jusy you. Friedman wrote in his 30 thoughts this year that some people in the NHL thought Carr could be an underrated goalie prospect.

Elliot Friedman was singing Carr's praises at the beginning of the season. Kinda disappointed in his play.
