Icon37 Sens looking for help down the middle

https://twitter.com/user/status/1449857484802363394

This has been speculated for a while, especially with Stützle remaining on the wing and Colin White out long-term. Josh Norris is basically their only top-six centre.

The Sens have been connected to Claude Giroux this week and I can't help but wonder whether they might be in the market for a certain former Ottawa 67s captain who plays for the Flames...

Monahan for assets

Assets and more assets for Eichel

Play Dube at C until Eichel returns

I can get on board with that

Sean Monahan would be a perfect fit.

Think this could be a trade that could work out for all parties if the Flames can get assets to package for Eichel. I think Monahan would be happy to play in Ottawa. And Dube would get to play his natural position for the time being.

Do we want a "The Legend Of Sean Monahan" this soon? What do the Sens have that the Flames would want? It might be a good fit for Monahan there.

They really traded a 23 year old Zibanejad for Derrick Brassard.

If the needed help up the middle they could see if Jeff Finger is still active

Definitely feels like a better chance of Monahan waving for Ottawa than for Buffalo.

If a change of scenery does Money good, it won’t be because we didn’t give him enough of a chance to make it work with Gaudreau, or as a centre.

2nd round pick would suffice.

So it isn’t just about cheering for an ex Flame like some posters claimed?

Correct. Those posters are lying to themselves or us. Likely both.

Sign me up.

Monahan stopped moving the needle for us a long time ago anyways. Last night demonstrated he's too soft for this team in the sort of style its trying to implement. But he may be of value elsewhere like Ottawa. Back to where he played juniors.

How has the Stone return from Vegas worked out for them?

I don't even recall the package.

It was Brannstrom and a 2nd, which I believe they used on Egor Sokolov.

Sokolov is a very promising young centre. Brannstrom is also promising but DJ Smith refuses to play him. I could see Ottawa being willing to trade Brannstrom for Monahan but I doubt Darryl would play him, either. He's a small, mobile offensive defenceman.

Have to aim higher than that, Ottawa are the ones trying to fill a need.

Lottery-protected 1st or one of their young players/prospects (eg. Brannstrom, Pinto, Greig, Formenton, Bernard-Docker, Sokolov). Has to be something that Buffalo would want in the Eichel package.

Stutzle just went off after taking a nasty chop on the unprotected forearm. Get on the phone Treliving.
