Alpine Park is looking like a pretty sweet spot. Is the idea to have a Westman Village type arrangement? And the community spreads out. Some awesome views. Looks like spec homes are going for $700ish?

How windy is Alpine Park? Based on its location it looks like it could get very windy up there

It was interesting that some of those townhome owners in the article were trying to imply that they may be getting the boot so that Harvard Developments can get their land for the Eau Claire market rebuild:
Quote:
Harvard Developments has big plans to redevelop the Eau Claire Market land into a mixed-use, transit oriented project.
Lindsay believes the River Run complex has gotten in the way of those plans.
"We're the inconvenient acre between them and the water," he said.
"As a result of the city's decision to throw our 23 homes in a landfill, the developer has their massive project to transform into a waterfront development.
I think the reality is that since they switched the plans to a bridge over the Bow their site was doomed, as even that illustrative rendering shows the space is being occupied by the train coming out of the tunnel. I wonder if they had gone for the tunnel under the Bow if their homes would have been spared the wrecking ball?
Some kind of entertainment venue is going into what was the entire 3rd floor of Sears in Southcenter mall. They haven't announced what it is yet because they are working on the marketing roll out. I wonder what it could be.
Southcentre and Deerfoot are pretty far apart. I can't imagine too many people from the south drive all the way up north to go to the one at Deerfoot, so they shouldn't be in danger of cannibalizing their business.

I think it's almost certainly Rec Room. Large format entertainment space, and the interview specified it would be "new to South Calgary". That implies that it's something that already exists in the north (otherwise he would have definitely said "new to Calgary").

Most likely, the top of the tunnel would have been 10-15 m below the floor of the townhouses. It also could take a different curve onto Centre Street N since it went under the expensive houses of Crescent Road.
