Hasn't it been close to a decade since Calgary started the season at home?

Only three games against Edmonton?
I had to double check, yep looks like 3 games vs the Oilers for some reason.

No game in the NHL is a write off.

The avalanche lost 26 games last season. We could maybe let the season start before we start penciling in losses… what joy. Can’t wait…

We will pound the tar out of the defending Stanley Cup champs in game 1, and then lay an egg in game 2 against the Oilers. Book it.

Every year, there will be one team in your Division that you only play at home once and one team that you only play on the road once (last year, LA came here once and the Flames went to Vegas once). So, about every 4 years, they'll only have 3 games against the Oilers.

What's really weird about it is they only play the Oilers 3 times, and all of them are before the New Year.

It's also not horrible to play a good team early in the season, especially when they've had less rest than everyone else.

And we play 9 of our first 10 at home including an 8 game home stand. What’s your point?

League wants them to get 2/3 in before the annual post American Thanksgiving slide.

Point was Oil always seem to get a "soft" schedule to start. Of course i hadn't noticed our own home stand which makes that point less valid

One trip to each of San Jose and St Louis for 2 games with a day in between. WTF is that?

In both cases they could at least circle back for the second. The SJ games are start of a 4 game California trip. The StL ones sandwiched in a Midwest trip. It's stupid.

Schedule looks awfully blocky (home stretches/road stretches.) I wonder what season ticket holders think of that? It seems somewhat unfavorable from a ticket holder perspective.
