I feel like it's accepted now. "Nerd culture" has pretty much become pop culture at this point. I mean look at the most popular movies by far right now: superhero movies. The most popular TV show (GoT) can somewhat fall under that category now too. Video games seem to fall under that same umbrella to me.

I never get when your average person trashes gaming for being an immature waste of time, then turns around and binge watches an entire season of something on Netflix. What's so grown up about binge watching GoT? If anything that's lazier, at least with games you're alert and having to make split-second decisions.

I mean I guess if someone is the type who's always on the go or something, how they could feel that way about it. But that doesn't seem to be the case for your average urbanite. I don't see what's wrong with adult gaming as a way to unwind, or anything to feel ashamed about in this current culture

Haha I did that too... And yeah Odyssey is SO long if you do all the side stuff too. I thoroughly enjoyed that game, but it's definitely big. I'm just finally putting the wraps on the RDR2 storyline (I'm deep into Epilogue 2) which felt like a big game, but Odyssey felt way bigger.

Haters can shove it. The only shame I feel is around other gamers because I don't game nearly as much as I want to and I don't have the tech knowledge some of them have.

Your last sentence is bang on. Once I put the kidlets to bed, I like to unwind with some immersive gaming like AC Origins. Cool history and storylines etc. Beats mindless TV binge watching.

I'm at about 140 hours now and finished the story Thursday night. I knew I was close to finishing but didn't think that mission would be the end. All I have left to do now is the DLC and most of the Legendary Animals. There's still places I haven't done all of the objectives but I think might just move on and come back later once I do the main stuff.

I feel like if you personally identify yourself by the media you consume (whether that be games, sports, movies, etc.) you are likely the most insufferably shallow type of person regardless.

I played on PC but the long hours were killing my arms. When PS4 version came out I jumped on it and although there are a ton of issues on console I've put in more time than I'd like to even know. I decided I've never really beat the game(Complete Atlas beat Shaper) and apparently not many have like 4% so next season I'm starting a new toon with the knowledge I have now and if I don't finish before the season after that I'm just playing standard until I'm done.

I just downloaded this game, and am excited to try it out. I heard that the controls are clunky and that it crashes from time to time, but what the hell its a free game so I can live with that.

Watch a couple let's play videos on either title and give it a chance. I can guarantee if you tackle the learning curve you'll love what you discover.

I highly recommend Quill18 - he also plays Stellaris and Imperator.

I second Quill18. His let's plays are great and he's Canadian too.

Tricky part with tutorials on youtube about paradox titles is they're constantly updated and supported for over a decade. They're always changing. I watched like 10 hours worth of videos on Crusader Kings just to jump into the game and find maybe half the info was still relevant

Started playing some Anno 1800 it feels like a pretty fun game so far. Tried a couple Paradox games and just can't get over the learning curve due to time constraints, but this one feels like I pick up and play, but not master right away.

Looks like Bioware Anthem is probably going to be looked at as a failure

EA is the cancer of video gaming. Since their hostile takeover there's been two high quality BioWare releases (Dragon Age: Origins and ME2) and they were both in the pipeline before EA got their hands on them.

I'd agree with that. Such a neat idea but just so boring

They anticipated a 10-year lifecycle of post-launch content? lmao!

I read a number of articles about Anthem's development and this one is 100% on Bioware.

Yeah but this isn't the same Bioware. Most of the creative minds that developed BG, KOTOR, ME, Neverwinter Nights are long gone.

A Jade Empire remake would tickle me pink. Absolutely loved that game.
