Still seems like the obvious move is to trade Stone for a late round pick. Andersson is the fill in, and cap room is made.

Great deal.

Hell, Henrique just re-signed in ANA for 5 years @ $5.825M and is 5 years older.

Lindholm: 23 years old
2017-18: 44 pts in 81 games (0.54 PPG)
2016-17: 45 pts in 72 games (0.63 PPG)
2015-16: 39 pts in 82 games (0.48 PPG)
2014-15: 39 pts in 81 games (0.48 PPG)
167 points in those 4 seasons, $29,042 a season/point

Henrique: 28 years old
2017-18: 50 pts in 81 games (0.62 PPG)
2016-17: 40 pts in 82 games (0.49 PPG)
2015-16: 50 pts in 80 games (0.63 PPG)
2014-15: 43 pts in 75 games (0.57 PPG)
183 points in those 4 seasons, $31,831 a season/point

Nothing to complain about here. He's signed for his prime years at fair market value. If a change of scenery brings out a higher ceiling it could be a steal.

Good find AC. Interesting to see how Henrique's signing was viewed at the time.

Off by a year and 50k per. Very happy with this signing!

Really like this deal and what's even more amazing is that Lindholm reportedly was asking for more than this from Carolina. I guess he really just wanted a change of scenery.

Clearly, the Flames havent been even close to being as successful as they'd like to be, but you can't say Treliving hasn't done his job with the moves he's made and the contracts he's been able to negotiate. His only significant mistake, which has no doubt hindered him from other moves is Brouwer really.

A late round pick? How late are you thinking?

Solid signing by BT, I have personally not always been the biggest fan but he has had a very good offseason this year when taken as a whole. I really hope he locks down Hanifin long term.

I like it, avoiding arbitration for a new player is especially good. Although it never really felt like they were headed that direction in context of the trade.

Hanifin however concerns me. As the highest AAV left to sign, RFA with no arbitration, might he hold out into camp? Reasons that I think he won't are A) Negotiations started relatively late (after trade) and Tre has more time-pressing issues so far. B) New team, he probably doesn't want to be 'the new guy' who missed camp, despite it being his old coach's systems. and C) I don't think it'll be too difficult to fit him in under the existing cap. He is certainly a less established 'top pairing' player than Dougie was at this stage, when he was signed for 6 years of $5.75. There will be multiple options to get him tied down, including possibly a long-term option without booting Brouwer.

Solid contract for both parties! Unbelievable how Tre manages to not have any NTC or NMC on most of flames.

Pretty exciting to have a player like this locked up for 6 years on a very fair contract, not to mention Hanifin being in the mix too. I liked Hamilton and Ferland but it's hard not to be optimistic about these two. The wizard strikes again.

I'm not sure if you actually mean the Flames should extend Treliving again, but the great news is, he was already extended last season.

These are two weird examples as I had not idea they were seen as bad moves. Sure people wanted other goalies, but when they were gone Smith was a really good pick up for what he paid.

The Hamilton over Seth Jones is completely new to me, though. I had no idea Jones was even an option. But it seemed like Nashville was going into win now mode and wouldn't have taken an offer of picks.

So then who was our Ryan Johanson that would have got the deal done and how much would it have hurt us compared to the picks we paid? Do you have a source on this? You'd have to think it would have taken Monahan at minimum. So then it would have been Monahan and Hamilton on the Flames or Seth Jones on the Flames.

I don’t see the Flames losing that right shot depth on the blue line. Router buyout seems more realistic than a Stone trade IMO. Having said that if the Flames could add some depth at D then I could see Stone moving.

Move Stone for a pick the blue line likely looms like

Gio-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamomic
Kulak-Andersson
Prout

With Kylington, Valimaki pushing and likely getting called up when injuries strike. I don’t see the Flames moving Stone unless they can add another piece on the back end.

Yeah, Treliving is huge on defensive depth both on the big team and on the farm. He's already got a young new comer in the group in Hanifin. No way he goes with Kulak and Anderson as our bottom pair and hopes for no injury bugs.

He'll keep his insurance in Stone, guaranteed. Fans are always way more eager to ship out "excess" than GM's are.
