WRPG = anything that isn't a JRPG, basically. It's basically "RPG in the style of bioware" as opposed to "RPG in the style of Squaresoft".
But Bethesda is its own thing. Even 20+ years ago, a Bethesda RPG bore little resemblance to other WRPGs - like, compare the original Fallout, or even Baldur's Gate, to Daggerfall. Bethesda games have never been driven by their characters or even by any compelling plot. It's just, "here's a big open world - go do stuff." So I don't think not liking Skyrim has any implications for your views about any other games not made by Bethesda.

I wouldn't say it's "fixed" yet. It's certainly a lot better than it was at launch, but it still needs some work.

Anyone play Path of Exile? I probably don't want to go ultra deep into it so does it matter what I pick? Or is there a class/strategy that's better for beginners?

Anyone played Metro Exodus? Any thoughts on playing it without having played the earlier Metro games?

This game is now terrifying, absolute nightmare fuel. I've never "noped" my way out of a game until last night.

Yeah, I literally laughed out loud the first time I allocated a skill point.
I'm hoping though that I can have fun playing through the content once without having to worry too much about minmaxing that. Kinda like Diablo III I lost interest once grinding Paragon levels and trying to roll that tiny upgrade became the main thing to do.

Does anyone have any opinions on Wolfenstein 2: The new Colossus for PS4? I scrolled further back in the thread and I didn't seem to see anything. I have a bit of time to dig into some games for about a week and I'm wondering if I should add it to the list along with Evil Within 2 and Life is strange ep 2.

I am at least halfway through. If you like the first games you will like this one. This one gives you a little more leeway in that you can explore for resources whereas the previous ones were more linear FPS. Like the first games it's a little unpolished but I like the Russian story and viewpoint. It's not GOTY material but it's a competent and fun FPS.

I would add it if you liked the first one. I thought the game/gun play was great and the story was pretty good too. If you have some time to spare, The New Colossus would be a good game to play.

I haven't played the first two though. Do you think that will be a problem? Will the story of this one make sense without the background from the first two?

I don't think it's a huge problem as the story is still straightforward although you may lack some of the background details of the Metro. It's all based on post-apocalyptic Moscow where survivors have to live in this underground Metro with the first games being based a lot around exploring sewers, etc and gas masks being required for any on-ground missions. This one is a little different in that it deals with a crew finding some truths about the Metro and mostly on-ground quests so very little dark underground sewer stuff that made the first games creepy with the mutated creatures and humans. I enjoy the series because it's probably the best example of what life would be like after an apocalypse as it's a constant struggle for survival as you have to craft ammunition, gas mask filters, weapons, etc and even carry around a manual hand crank generator to recharge flashlights, etc. It's all very Russian seeing its based on Russian novels which is a nice change from the Western or Japanese based games we typically play.

If you liked the first game and love the over-the-top, ridiculous storyline, it's a no-brainer. Was one of my favourite games when it came out.
