Most Muslim women don't wear the niqab/burka, just ordinary hijab. Heck, now, aside from ultra-conservative places like Saudi Arabia, many Muslim women don't even wear the hijab in places like Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon, etc. It is really more a product of particular regional/cultural practices than Islam, which demands no such thing (I'm not an apologist, btw, I don't particularly like much of anything about Islam's religious texts, but I do try to correct cultural misconceptions since I know more about this stuff than most people around me in Southern Alberta). Fun fact: women are actually disallowed from wearing face coverings into the mosques in Mecca and Medina or during any hajj rites, which is why it's so hilarious that they're allowed to vote with those silly face coverings in Canada.

buddy, I didn`t call you racist. What you are seeing are softie government attitudes towards minority pressure groups that have nothing to do with the huge numbers of such peoples in the country, and EVERYTHING to do with... softie government attitudes towards them. Out of the 1.3 million South Asians in Canada, how many do you think wear daggers or really want to? But no, you not only associate these (let`s face it, relatively minor) nuisances with the rest of South Asians in Canada, but you expand that to the broad category of immigrants. Get used to the fact that most Canadians cannot even trace their roots in Canada back a full century if that, and think of how silly it is to associate immigrants as a category with some nuisances. It really is like calling white people nazis because there are some racist skinheads around...

I personally don't find in funny when people bash religion unless its meant to be funny like in a comedy act. On the other hand I also don't like when religous people try to preach too much, this thread is pointless and some religous people might take offence to some of people's comments on here.
