Said it in the last thread and I'll say it again here. Jay Bouwmeester was great, everywhere but Calgary. His accomplishments in Florida, St. Louis, and a Team Canada jersey have nothing to do with this. Bouwmeester is at best just barely top 5 of the guys that are left in this poll as far as his time in Calgary goes.

JayBo was a monumental disappointment as a Flame for me. I would vote Phaneuf, Macoun, Housley, Brodie all before him.

Bouwmeester was only a disappointment offensively here, and that improved once Brent was fired and stopped neutering the offense.

I can understand (Calder winner) Makarov being left off the all time Flames Team... even though he was arguably the best Russian hockey player ever (9 time scoring champ) He spent 4 seasons in Calgary in his later years

But Phil Housley, who led the Calgary D for 5 seasons...

I looked up the USA all time roster, Phil Housley is on the top pairing, but can't make the Flames all time team, that's somewhat absurd. (Phil was a notch above, and had a better career than Gary Suter!)

call Brodie the winner?

Or as Strange Brew suggested ... run off the top three and see where it goes?

I’d vote for a run off of the top 2.

With where the votes are, I’d say a runoff of top 2. Housley and Macoun are basically tied in the voting and a notch below the other two.

I would probably slot Hamilton over Phaneuf. Top tier left for me is Housley and Bouwmeester. Both played here in some of the darker years but were both great players. Macoun and Brodie get some props for tenure.

I will agree to disagree on Jaybo but that's why we do these things and this list has been a lot of fun

I honestly felt like JayBo was the best d man on our team while he was here. I have always felt like everyone was taking crazy pills, just because he wasn’t scoring 15 goals. I voted for him in round 6 but shifted strategically to another favourite of mine due to low support.

Rob Ramage is missing from the list. So, no other choice but to choose McCoun.
