well United never won more than 3 in a row, so it's not really all that comparable. Plus during Bayerns 8 titles, there have been 5 different champions in England (United, City, Chelsea, Leicester and now Liverpool). Now you could make the argument that the actual title races were not that close all the time, but at least there's different champions. In Spain, they at least have a big rivalry between Barcelona and Real every year, plus Atletico won a title a few years ago as well.

you're right about Italy of course, but Lazio is having a hell of run this year and I feel Inter can get there too. But yeah, same problem. Having a club dominate a league for a decade like Bayern and Juventus is not a healthy thing for such big leagues.

Well Werder look all but gone. Although I continue to hope for the best, we deserve to be relegated to be honest. At least Duesseldorf has shown some heart. This relegation might devastate the club.

Building on cheevers' misery, those #HamburgerIdiots of mine have their biggest game of the season tomorrow in Heidenheim.

All I want for Father's Day is an Auswärtssieg, and perhaps a little more misery for devo22 as well. NUR DER HSV!

you can still get the Auswärtssieg, but looks like there won't be a lot of misery for me today

Stuttgart will get the win here ... and the only "bad" result in the other game would be a Hamburg victory. Best case would be a Heidenheim win because Stuttgart would be up by 3 points and a much better goal differential. If it remains a draw, it's much of the same ... also 3 points up, but Hamburg has a similar goal differential, so Stuttgart could still mess it up. If Hamburg win, it's still wide open.

and oh man, imagine a Hamburg-Bremen relegation. That'd be crazy.

Ah Sports.....where would we be if we couldnt find joy in constant soul-crushing disappointment?

Come on Howie, you're a Flames fan! This kind of thing should be like a warm blanket on a cool evening or a comfortable pair of broken-in shoes for you.

fight for relegation is fun today. Werder Bremen are up 3-0 at HT against Cologne, and Düsseldorf is down 0-1 against Union ... if that stands, then Düsseldorf will go down to BL2 and Werder will have to battle it out with either Heidenheim or Hamburg. But Düsseldorf only need a goal here ... unless Bremen makes it 4-0, then they pretty much have to win because of goal differential.

Bremen up 5:0 already and Düsseldorf is down 0-2, so that's that.

crazy results so far. Dortmund down 0-4 against Hoffenheim, Freiburg also hammering Schalke (4-0).

Its days like today, on the rare day when football doesn't kick you in the teeth, that you realize just how beautiful it is.

Very true.

Every time I see you post I can only think of the Seinfeld Episode about the Cheever Letters.

Diekmeier of all people scoring the fifth goal in injury time ... talk about rubbing salt into the wound, wow.

Well, Werder survives thanks to the away goals rule. Should never have been close, especially a mediocre at best 2. Bundesliga side. Hoping for better for next year but losing Rashica and a forced buy clause for Selke means there will not be a lot of money to improve. I think it will be another battle to survive. I am more relieved than happy. Should probably be less morose as at least I am not Howie_16.

Yeah, that was not really a convincing two legs. It will be interesting to see what Bremen does with the back four as I think that's their biggest weakness. Do you think Kohfeldt's job is in any danger?
