This would be amazing if it worked.

And if you get more Manchins and Sinemas, how does that help? And if you think they're the only ones in the Democratic party willing to sell out their constituents to satisfy their donors, I have a bridge to sell you.

For all the smug condescension the left has aimed at the right for being susceptible to "grifters" over the years, it's pretty hilarious to watch the chickens come home to roost from our own set of id-pol hucksters. And I include myself in that crowd.

Again, it still helps that Schumer is Senate Leader and not McConnell. It's still a numbers game first. If not for Manchin, W. Virginia will elected 2 GOP Senators for the foreseeable future.

Oh boy. There's been increasing talks making the rounds about a potential Hillary run in 2024 for the Dems. They really know how to make it hard for themselves, don't they?

That country is absolutely broken. I think they're likely past the point of no return now, and what we're currently witnessing are the early stages of the end of American democracy. I sincerely hope that Canada is preparing for this inevitability and doing everything in our power to protect our own democracy and minimize the damage as much as we can.

It doesn't matter. The goalposts will continue to move and they'll always be short by just enough votes on anything that might result in meaningful systemic changes.

Sure but you can already see what the GOP can do with a majority. We're talking things like 10% flat income tax. You need to at least stop that even if things are stalled.

At least this way you may get systemic change, as slim as it may seem now. Give the GOP majority and it's game over for progressive views. You can't get there by not voting.

Fox news division isn't horrible, they generally are decent, but they can't pretend that the opinion people aren't their biggest watched shows and have massive influence in the right-wing of America.

Again - nothing you can do about Manchin. Use any other candidate in West Virginia and you lose by 30 points. You need enough seats to work around him on these issues.

The whole filibuster thing will be an issue to win the nominations going forward - although more likely is the Republicans win the Senate back and get rid of it themselves - so I suspect the Democrats won't nominate anyone like her in states they might actually win.

Progressives can live in a fantasy land of a 3rd party ever having control of anything in the US or figure out how to work within the system.

What's the alternative that is a possibility to actually occur?

I assume you mean a good alternative, and I don't think there is one, really. Obviously people should be voting for democrats, and what people like Rube want in terms of a shift in Democratic policy priorities isn't realistic at all in my view. It's just funny watching the dems operate. It's like political cowardice is fundamental to the party ideology, like they've internalized that stereotype of politicians and made it their guiding star.

It's cowardice because the tent is too big. Many opposite views in that big tent so hard not to step on toes.

Republicans govern in a straight line which is really no government.

I mean it should be pretty obvious by now that there is no working within the system. The system is stacked in favour of the wealthy, and they have a pretty good grip on both parties. The best bet is organization at a grass roots level, labour disruptions, civil disobedience, etc.

Unions is where I would focus all effort on. They can have compatible political power to doners.

Need to organize Walmart and Amazon

The Democrars have abandoned unions for the coastal elites. You think some fragile student from Yale is going to lead civil disobedience?

Democrats can't bash on Amazon and Walmart when mostly minorities are working there. Again, big tent.

You've all read the history of Revolutions, it's all from the working class against the bourgeoisie. But the working class is in the GOP tent. W. Virginia, once carried by Bill Clinton has shifted 30 points.

Need to change the laws for that to be possible.

WHITE working class is in the GOP tent.

Under $100k earners much more likely to vote Democrat. https://www.statista.com/statistics/...tes-income-us/
