Are you willing to spend RTX 3080 money on a console?

The horsepower and optimization needed for 4K and high FPS -- remember that 'high FPS' is now 120+, a lot of games can do 4K/60 FPS -- is not insignificant.

its still a massive upgrade...and at the end of the day all that matters is how it looks and plays. I mean they could do 4k/60+ on every game if they turned down the fidelity.

You can play every new game at 60 fps as far as I know, slight resolution hit in some cases is worth it IMO and not even noticeable.

None, build a custom PC and play with controller!

My days of PC gaming in front of a monitor are long over. I prefer to lounge on the couch or nest chair when gaming.

List of Xbox Series X, Series S games with 120 FPS

Even at launch, there were titles capable of doing 4K/60 FPS.

Holy smokes dude. Those are last gen or older optimized games. Show me new gen AAA games running 120 FPS.

So just ignore all the entries that say "Backward compatible". A 'Smart Delivery' game is a game that has both current-gen and last-gen versions; you buy the game and the correct version is downloaded based on your console type. Of course, you're just going to move the goalposts again.

How about you show us a gaming PC that, between $499 - $629 CAD (price range of a PS5 Digital through Xbox Series X to full-fat PS5), will run a modern AAA game at 120 FPS with the equivalent fidelity of a Xbox Series X or PS5?

Let me save you some work:

Oh I know, I was just stating the fact for our friend that what he wants is readily available.

Even if you want to lounge on a coach, you can build a custom PC to hook up to your TV.

There are ways to achieve this...however like you said it is going to be far more expensive than what is already possible with the current gen systems. They are also expected to get better res and framerates soon as both Sony and AMD will be using there version/implementation of NVIDIA's DLSS.

Really this happens at the start of every generation.

I actually think PS5 / Series X has been better than the PS4 generation was in terms of some actual new fun exclusives and NEW Cross-Gen titles to play (Returnal, Ratchet and Clank, Horizon 5)

I remember the first year of the PS4 felt like it was all just remakes or re-releases of "Definitive Editions" of PS3 / 360 games.

I still think the industry jumped to 4k way too quickly. It's still a struggle to run native 4k on most devices (congrats to you if you're one of the rare people who built a computer strong enough to do it!) and many games will use dynamic resolution, so the true internal resolution is usually lower for most of the game. The so-called 4k streams from most streaming services are still heavily compressed. We'll get there some day but I don't think we can say it's common yet.

1440p is still pretty great, IMO, and you can more easily hit 60 or 120 fps when you're dealing with 44% of the pixels.

Still available, and also at Gamestop as Raekwon mentioned. Lots of options, bundle or not.

^Sucks that they dropped them though. Can I get one that was handled carefully?

Interesting video, cut corners and bought used parts and still couldn't pull it off...things will also continue to be optimized better for consoles while that PC will just become more obsolete. Doom ran best but that is the greatest game engine of all time IMO.

Consoles really seem like a bargain right now, especially if you have get one at shoppers with 20x or a bonus redemption day.

Default PS5 vs. Switch vs. XBOXSX - THUNDERDOME Version 2.0

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but as a Series X and PS5 owner since launch I have zero regrets with either of my purchases.

Smart delivery, Dualsense, 60 FPS, quick resume, silent machines, removal of load times, social integration, etc are all massive upgrades to me.

The name of the game this generation is convenience. I couldn’t imagine going back to a PS4.

Maybe I’m a bit naive, but I’m basically blown away every time I load a game. Almost everything is drop dead gorgeous, runs smooth as butter, and barely needs any time to load.

For the price? These consoles will last you 7-10 years and the games will only continue to get better. It’s a no brainer purchase for me if you’re a gamer.

I agree with everything you have said. I can't wait to see what this generation can accomplish.

My ps4 sounds like a jet engine when I try to play Ghost of Tsushima.

I’m officially in the market for a PS5.

If anyone could help I would appreciate it. Hoping for disc version.
