Sure looked like it. I bet that was expensive. That video reminded me of the "Airplane" gag - "Now arriving at Gate 5. Gate 6. Gate 8. "

We have a cargo 747 that comes to YYC twice a week, I worked the one that came early this morning. They always taxi so carefully when the ramp is snow covered and take things extremely slowly. Multiple times they have simply just stopped and told ATC they were not moving until they had a truck to follow to guide them in. We were shocked by this video, the speed he was carrying anywhere near baggage carts is absolutely insane and I have no clue how they could justify it. We are collectively well-versed enough in 747 winter operations to definitively say that this is nuts.

If I'd been in Chicago, my luggage would have been on that baggage cart!

C-17 just came lumbering over the West side of the city.

Always so cool to see that beast.

Crazy winds gusting at Heathrow and this YouTube channel absolutely popped off, hitting over 230,000 concurrent viewers live streaming the plethora of heavy go-arounds. It's now made international headlines... was a lot of fun this morning. The whole stream is 8 hours but just click through and watch a few landings to see how wild some of the landings were.

Speaking of cool planes, I was up around 4:30 am this morning and heard something big flying over so I fired up the ol' Flightradar - and it was this!

Anyone interested in the 737 Max debacle should watch the doc on Netflix. It's a pretty high level overview but still an informative watch.

Also posted this in the Covid good news thread but thought it deserves mention here too. Air Canada resuming 34 international routes and although it's not in this release they are starting a few new trans border and domestic routes too. Only one of note for YYC is a new route (I believe) to Fort St John. Frequencies are low to start, hopefully they build back up to per pandemic levels.

Dmytro Kuleba the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs confirming it has been destroyed on twitter.

This was the world’s largest aircraft, AN-225 ‘Mriya’ (‘Dream’ in Ukrainian). Russia may have destroyed our ‘Mriya’. But they will never be able to destroy our dream of a strong, free and democratic European state. We shall prevail! https://t.co/TdnBFlj3N8
