The current government was terrible, but it seems anytime a terrible regime fails in the ME, it becomes a case of, "be careful what you wish for".

Maybe I don't get the problem, but to me it makes sense to have donations go to one spot for matching. If everyone were to donate to whatever charity of their choice, how is the government supposed to coordinate matching and vetting all of the possible charities?

I don't know what makes you think that. Was it the generally negative tone? The random use of capitalization? The hashtag "thisiswrong"? I don't know, weird take dude!

The tweet is also from someone who is clearly a dumb dumb, considering the original amount they'd match was maxed at $2 million, and then they upped it to $5 million when that was reached. When the original matching amount was mentioned (August 8), they stated where it had to go, but apparently this guy "JUST learned" it on August 12:

“My message to Canadians is this: The best way that you can help is to donate money and for your contribution to be matched by the Government of Canada, donations must be made to the Humanitarian Coalition or one of its partners,” Gould said during a virtual press conference on Saturday morning.

The $25 million is not a matching amount, that's the money Canada is donating regardless of any matching.

Forensic analysis of the explosion including timelines, a reconstruction of the explosion itself, and all current available footage. Amazing what can be done now with a few pictures, video clips, publicly available maps, and computer modeling.

Hopefully this type detailed investigation work can prevent future tragedies.
