I found this Youtube channel looking for Microsoft Flight Sim videos. She's a recently laid-off Westjet Dash 8 pilot. Her latest video shows a flight from Springbank over the Rockies and the city.

To show how severely the aviation industry has been affected by Covid her last 'airline' video started with upgrading to captain and ended with her being layed off. In a seniority driven industry you generally would be in the top half of the pilot pool if you are a captain. Speculation on my part but this indicates Encore would have layed off roughly half of their pilots at a minimum.

Edit: Yup a Canadian registered P.180 arrived on Saturday afternoon.
I have flown in one of those a few times in recent years. Weird looking plane.

F18s in Kelowna I think. Can always tell when they take off. Too smoky to see good.

Thanks for sharing this. I grew up in Springbank and used to take girls to the airport parking lot. I forgot about that until I saw this.

Yeah I know Emilie, this is approximately the case. I'd recommend watching her other videos as well because they're very informative. Glad she's making more YouTube videos now.

Cool to see they went over downtown Calgary. My last flight out of Springbank on a Mooney M20j, we went to high river, were to come back west of Calgary, but got clearance for right over. That was an incredible experience.

It doesn't matter how many feet you are above downtown, it feels like you're just razing the Bow/brookfield/telus sky towers. Such an incredible experience.

Dornier Alpha jets were taking off at YYC yesterday afternoon. Presumably from Top Aces who contract out to the Canadian Airforce for as agressors for training our F18 pilots. They were loud AF briefly on takeoff, they would also fit the profile of what was seen last weekend.

Another A380 operator shelving the fleet due to Covid (plus most of their A340-600's):

What’s the deal with the twin engine plane that’s been circling over the city (for me the west end) for the last two hours? It’s low and keeps coming around.

My only guess is YYC city photographs with the nice day and fall colours?

Likely NAV Canada inspection aircraft (assuming it was a twin engine jet?) doing Nav Aid/Approach checks at YYC (and quite likely YBW).

It looked really small for that though. Almost like a bush pilot plane

Flight Radar 24 showed an American registered Piper circling downtown. Fairly certain it's not a NAV Canada plane doing a flight inspection... If it's in fact the same plane

That would better fit the plane I saw.
