So, he was once a tenth overall pick. He played 5 seasons in the NHL with his best season being in 2013-14 for Buffalo when he had 44 points.
He is now 34 years old.
He'll have to be incredible to get another chance. It would make a great story, but I am skeptical.

Claude Lemieux did it at 43.
But kudos to you for reaching out on a limb and giving a real insightful opinion.
Big time risk taker!!!
The reality is in a salary cap world, if he can provide replacement level NHL play/production for a league minimum salary he will be back.
That is a fact Jack.
Sure the odds may to low but to think they are zero is ridiculous.

If he's effective and at a league minimum, there's always a chance. He was a reliable player before he retired, and not bad hockey IQ if I remember correctly.

Don't under-estimate the value of going out on your own terms. Even if he never gets back to the NHL, he resumed his pro career and will probably be at peace with whatever happens at this point.
Even for myself, I had to stop playing sports due to a devastating knee injury. I would do just about anything just to have one more game, so I could play that game knowing it was my last one.
