Yeah, that Italian shot was perfect. They could have given up, they're 8-0.

Looked like there was a chance to me. Both curlers have done that shot several times. A heavy draw with John sweeping might have worked. If they had the takeout, the game was over. If they had the freeze, it would have had to be perfect. Curling is such a strategic game. I really enjoy that part of the game.

I feel bad for them.

Yeah it really was, and a very difficult shot too.

But if they don't over sweep Homan's last shot in 9, it's perfect.

She yelled light out of her hand.

I think the pressure got to them.

I don't think so. That shot was perfectly buried and almost no way you get to it with enough weight to remove it. Attempting that shot would have been way harder than what Homan attempted, which didn't require as much precision. She wasn't playing a perfect freeze. Just enough in front of the italian stone that they would have had to remove it, avoid jamming on their own and keep the shooter. Instead Homan can't draw the 8 foot.

She did but Morris' job is to know weight there too. They both misjudged.

That is a lot of pressure though. They really played some nice shots coming down the stretch of that game but credit to Italy who had many chances to lose and didn't.

Hell they missed an around the horn triple by an inch.

^Yes both mis judged is right, the line call (which Rachel wasn’t even watching) and the weight call were both off. John should’ve been sweeping on the other side for curl, not for weight. The most pressure on them of any team in the tournament, mixed doubles is bogus in my mind anyways.

Pretty brutal crash for the second guy on the downhill course. I don't think this is the only crash we'll see today. It looks like a wild ride down that course.

Not sure if they’re serious or not but the announcers said they spent “about $500 million on the course”. All the snow is man made, region only averages 20cm snow/ year. I agree we will see more wrecks in this hill, hopefully the fences will keep all the skiers from sailing over the edge.

55 out of 109 Olympic events involve skiing. Bobsleigh, hockey, curling, figure skating, luge, and skeleton all have 20 medals combined.

It's hard to take the standings seriously.

The course definitely looks cool with the banked turns and the narrow sections but it looks pretty frightening. I'm expecting that first saddle jump will take out a bunch of guys.
