Like Brodie and Gio(past few seasons) before him. He is super overrated on here.

I think there are signs that the Flames could be better in the playoffs.
They are losing a lot in 3 on 3. Doesn't matter in the playoffs.
They are having a lot of iffy calls against them. But there are way fewer calls in general in the playoffs.
They are remarkably injury-free. Important for the playoffs.
I might just be optimistic in that regard. But playoffs is where Sutter really excels.

Not from me there won’t be. My negativity towards that GM hit its max-level once Eichel went to Vegas. Nothing left for me to say on that front.

If I were Darryl I'd jumble up the lines pretty significantly
Gaudreau - Dube - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Mangiapane
Monahan - Zary - Phillips
Lucic - Ruzicka - Pitlick
Kylington - Tanev
Hanifin - Gudbranson
Valimaki - Andersson

Dube to 1st line center? He is extremely lucky to even be in the lineup IMO.

Well Vladar was great. Not much else to ask for from your backup. Best player on the team, by a fair margin.
Oliver was hit and miss, but that's what you're going to get from him. The odd beauty offensive play, the odd head shaking blunder in his own zone. You just hope the good outweighs the bad at the end of the night. I don't mind it. And after his gaffe he busted his stick over the crossbar, love seeing the emotion.
This team need the top two lines to lead the way with effort, intensity and pace. Have to be far more proactive, and a lot less reactive.
Really need a win Sunday to stop the bleeding and get the pendulum going the other way again.

They have size to pound a team in the playoffs
and as much as some of you don't like it the NHL point system is the NHL point system
Flames are 7-3-4
Its the same as 9-5...ask Montreal

Yeah, he must be one of the worst skaters in the league which leads to stupid passes. Doesn't look like he did a thing to improve his skating over the summer.

It's like you guys thought there would never be struggles the rest of the year.
They're still collecting points despite that. It's really hard to please people here.
A lot happens over 82 games. My suggestion would be to get familiar with the concept of "ebbs and flows" going into a full season. For any fan of any team.
Not long ago, Toronto looked as bad we are but wasn't collecting points.

If you think a healthy (and the if he’s ever healthy part is a maybe) Eichel is all this team is missing to be a contender then I don’t know what to tell you. We have guys that have slotted as high as the 2nd line this year that couldn’t crack half the other NHL rosters. It’s best to let this team flub out this year and start over with a new GM. Don’t want an already consistently broken Eichel who now also has a broken neck to heal back from @ 10 million a year for forever. That’s not what’s going to “push” this team over the edge.

That was by far the most lethargic they've looked. Hard to win when your effort level is that low, lucky to get a point.

The Flames are 7-3-4 after having one of the toughest starting schedules in the NHL, It could be way worse. On the second half of a back to back, they got a point and didn't look out of place.

This sounds like the same BS that kept Bennett out of an opportunity with Gaudreau.
I don't have the highest opinion of Dube but he brings an element that Lindholm and Monahan are incapable of bringing.
It wouldn't hurt to try. Lindholm could help him down low and on faceoffs too.
Also in that lineup Tkachuk - Backlund - Mangiapane would be our first line.
I did forget all about Coleman back there though.

With L.A and Anaheim coming out of their rebuilds, Jack Eichel in Vegas and McDavid up north this team is pretty much f'd

Tkachuk has this horrible hesitate-slide-shot technique that hasn't did anything for us this year (missed the net and resulted in multiple odd man opportunity's going the other way ) and I wish he would just rip it without thinking so much.

Dube should start with first receiving a pass without it getting lost in his skates.

Exactly. And what were the cup winning King teams records going into the playoffs? I don't remember them winning the Presidents Trophy...

Agreed, it’s not the worst start in the world. I think Sutter has a generally untalented team playing quite well. Effort can’t be questioned anymore which is nice to see. Big concern for me continues to be can this team produce offensively when checking gets tight?
