I know right near the ice... those seats can be removed, but I'm betting that the ones beyond that are part of the structure. Still.... can you imagine paintball in that building as it stands now... sniping people from the catwalks and hiding behind seats and throughout the little rooms in the building... it would be fun but not practical for any length of time - it would be a one off event before the building gets demolished.

I thought the same but probably wishful thinking. Good location for sure.

Eliminating engineering challenges and the economics of converting....NHL rink is 200 X 85 feet. CFL field is 450 X 165 feet. Remove roof to make outdoor stadium. Take out some or all of the of bottom section to get to 165 feet width. Remove one end of the Saddledome behind nets to get to 450 feet adding new seats on each sideline along with new seats behind new end zone.

You go from 19,289 seats to much lower removing bottom row and one end of the rink. You get them back plus some after you add seats along sidelines and behind new end zone.

Tough sell also with Calgary Stampede as larger remodelled hockey arena to football stadium would take up a lot of their land they require for the Stampede each July.

Time capsule. Have a lottery and 20,000 people get a seat to leave something interesting.

Encase the exterior in a plexiglass box.

Just keep the roof and put it on top of the new arena that's being built.

The rest of the Dome can just be dismantled.

Indoor rocketry and drone flying. They do not, however, get separate sections.

But seriously, Calgary is short on aquariums and waterparks. When Pisces Pet Emporium is the best "aquarium" in the province, you have a problem.
The land locked province is not short on aquariums - there is no need for an aquarium in Calgary. I sort of hate the idea of putting a massive animal which needs space into a small tub of water - especially if it means transporting it across a mountain range to do so.

Take off the roof and use it as an outdoor football stadium

Keep it operational for one year. Between the two buildings host the World Juniors at Christmas, the World Cup of Ice Hockey in the spring, and the World Cup in the fall. Make Calgary the hockey mecca of the universe for one year.

As long as they keep ticket prices somewhat in check it would be cool to host and sell out everyone of those games. Maybe Bettman gives us the All-Star game to boot.

Nah, zero is a pretty low number, so I would say the prairie provinces are short on aquariums.

Atlanta has the biggest one in North America, and it's no where near any oceans. Chicago, despite being on Lake Michigan, is just as far from any oceans as Calgary is. The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago is probably the 2nd best in North America. Moscow has the largest aquarium in Europe and is further inland and further north than Calgary.

Obviously it's not realistic to transport full-size whale sharks to Calgary, but there's no real reason why an aquarium wouldn't work. There's room near the science center.

Add hosting the Memorial Cup tournament & the Stanley Cup Finals to that list. Drop the All Star game. No need to host the World Championship either. I'd have no desire to watch McDiver and his Oiler teammates during yet another Flames playoff run.
