Doesn't seem to go along with the whole 'cut inflationary spending' bit but money talks I would love to see the transfer of billions from the feds to municipalities. Where's the money for this going to come from?
|
As written, it's $10K per unit growth in home building, not per new home built. So Calgary would have to double its growth to get that 100M. If it maintains its current growth, nothing. Thus one big issue with this policy is that rewards the municipalities that have not been growing prior to implementation.

Land in the GTA is selling for hundreds of millions and billions of dollars in anticipation of transit projects. This isn't where the problems lie.

Disagree. Insufficient TOD is indeed a big contributor to the issue. With regards to the Canada Line, the issue isn't that the area was overdeveloped, the issue is that the line was underbuilt. Nevertheless, there are few places better for development than along the Canada Line.
The Broadway Line is a good example - the zoned density limits are not what they could be, because of NIMBY politics, and that's going to hurt Vancouver's housing affordability. That project should be used as a catalyst for densification and city council is wasting a huge chunk of its potential. Commercial-Broadway, for instance is a better spot for towers than Lougheed, Metrotown, or Oakridge.

That's the thing about affirmative action. By its very existence, it casts doubt on the qualifications of people with minority identities, even those who were the best candidate.

Whatever the backstory, it's still a pretty lame thing to do. Imagine being some no-name politician writing to the Queen of England to complain about a GG appointment? What a wiener.

Not for most people it doesn’t, no. For a certain type of person, sure. But I doubt that type of person would be a fan of every white person who got a job being judged on whether they got it because of racism or not.
“Did Connor McDavid become captain of the Oilers because of RACISM? We’ll never know!”
I’d be surprised to see a reasonable person attempt that.

I guess politicians should just keep their mouths shut and not address or bring forward concerns that could impact the country. He took it to the Queen as that is the only person with power or authority over this matter.
Following PP's concern about the Governor General the subsequent Liberal caucus led by Ignatieff looked to politicize and oppose the next Harper nominee.

Everyone uses their brain. I wouldn’t say wondering if every Black person got their job because of affirmative action is a particularly meaningful or worthwhile use of it.

What are the odds this is true? I'm not looking forward to having to be skeptical about this crap for the next 3 years.

a REAL journalist knows when to answer questions and when to report the news. Sadly journalism has been replaced with partisan drones who editorialize because they believe viewers (readers) are too stupid to form their own opinions.
Interrupting a statement is heckling.

Is Akin actually a Liberal/Liberal supporter?
Or is PP going the Trump route and calling anything he doesn't like Liberal/left/woke?
I think I know what the answer is.
