Trump quits Screen Actors Guild, Screen Actors Guild says "Thanks!".
https://ew.com/awards/sag-awards/sag...ns-from-union/
Quote:
After Donald Trump resigned from SAG-AFTRA on Thursday following disciplinary charges filed against him, the union released the shortest possible statement.
"Thank you," the perfunctory statement reads. What more needs to be said?
|
Quote:
On Jan. 19, SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris and National Executive Director David White filed charges against Trump for his role in inciting the attack on the U.S. Capitol, "and in sustaining a reckless campaign of misinformation aimed at discrediting and ultimately threatening the safety of journalists, many of whom are SAG-AFTRA members," according to the official release. The requested penalty was expulsion from the union.
"I write to you today regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!" Trump wrote in his resignation letter (because he can no longer tweet). "While I'm not familiar with your work, I'm very proud of my work on movies such as Home Alone 2, Zoolander and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps; and television shows including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Saturday Night Live, and of course, one of the most successful shows in television history, The Apprentice — to name just a few!"
|
Quote:
"Which brings me to your blatant attempt at free media attention to distract from your dismal record as a union," the letter continues. "Your organization has done little for its members, and nothing for me — besides collecting dues and promoting dangerous un-American policies and ideas — as evident by your massive unemployment rates and lawsuits from celebrated actors, who even recorded a video asking, 'Why isn't the union fighting for me?' These, however, are policy failures. Your disciplinary failures are even more egregious."

The House voted to strip Greene of her committee assignments. They probably should expel her and I wonder if she was put on the committees in the first place just so she could be sacrificed but whatever. 11 Republicans voted against her.

I know many will disagree with me, but I don't know how I feel about expelling her, if that means kick her out of congress.
She was voted in, despite her known craziness.
I agree -kick her out any assignments.
Both parties should want nothing to do with her- Rep should kick her out.
But removal from congress, I can see the argument against that.

It's in the Constitution. If a district can't manage to elect someone who meets the bare minimums to serve as a representative, too bad for them they can try harder next time.
I mean her district not only voted for Georgia to secede from the US, but to secede from Georgia! Sometimes you have to protect people from their own destructive impulses.

There have really 4 examples of expulsion from congress. Treason, Rebellion, Bribery, Racketeering.
I certainly think openly supporting sedition and domestic terrorism would fit right in. But they would need 72 republicans, and that ain't happening, as republicans no longer than the institutions of governance seriously, they are going to stick their neck out to fix something when their official policy is to destroy it.

I can understand your point of view but she threatened Pelosi and other Democrats. In what work place is it okay to threaten your co-workers even if you uttered the threat before you were co-workers?
That said, I don't think she'll be removed from Congress because reasons.

I’d like to see his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame removed and replaced with a positive message or troll him with some social media star like Randy Rainbow or Sarah Cooper. Same with those guys like James Woods.
Or install a port-a-potty over it.

Walk of Fame is a money making scheme and has nothing to do with positive messages or good people or talent at all really.
It is a way for a private group to get egotistical "celebrities" to pay huge sums of money for a brief rekindling of fame.

Is Lindell some long lost grandson of Hitler? He kind of has some similar features.

Lindell looks like Donald Trump's dad in some of his photos. I wonder if that explains the relationship?

He does have such a "bad guy" vibe. Conservatives choose the strangest heroes.

I don't know if I agree with my original point of view, which is why I thanked the other posters who responded.
I have a hard time removing someone elected, but they got me over the line already.
