I have a similar rack and yeah the big issue is getting the tires up there (and down) - great to have them mounted high on the wall and away from things but huge pain getting them up/down from the rack

You just need to put them in studs. So much easier than a high rack.
Ooh this might work better. can use the dead space up near the garage door

I'd be storing tires for a Lexus RX 350 on them, so they are fairly heavy. Probably 50lbs each.

I bought this when it was 50% off around 4 ish years ago and have had no issues whatsoever. Store 4 - 275/35/17 (tires and wheels) on it at all times

I also have this exact one. No issues at all. The rack itself is also heavy so I'd recommend finding a friend to help with the install.

Personally I think I'm getting too old to put tires up that high and I've never found a good position to carry tires up a ladder and throwing it onto the rack. Also as mentioned above, SUV tires are a bit hefty too.

If you are getting this it goes on sale for $60 so wait. In general never buy anything regular price at crappy tire.
There's lots of racks you can build with cheap 2x4's and free plans online too

I wouldn’t trust that any Moto Master racks and their questionable hardware.

If you want a legit rack go to Lee Valley and get a hyloft tire rack. Slightly more expensive but that’s the rack Crappy Tire knocked off.

What size winter tires. My car has 20" wheels on it, and I'm going to get wheels and tires. Is there any benefit to go to 19" over 18" winter tires? Other than cost.

No... 18" is better.

More sidewall is better for winter tires.

If you're downsizing, make sure you can clear your calipers still - and always check wheel offsets.

I'm just going with the dealership wheels. They have recommendations in 18 and 19 inch.

Hope it's ok to post this year, if anyone's look for a set of '185/55 R15' sized Winter Tires I've got a mine up on Kijiji.
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...dId=1528842287

Our Mazda 2 got written off this summer, and these are too small for our new car. Tons of flexibility on price.

Thanksgiving and Easter are when I generally change over. Don’t have a heated garage so I’m at the mercy of the weather and need to take the opportunity when it is there.

The secret in Calgary is just keeping a spare set around on rims... basically roulette as far as when they go on each year.
