Headphones for working out

Any recommendations for a good set of headphones (preferably wireless) that I can wear when I exercise and doing stuff around the house. Something that will make it harder is that I don't want them to have those silicone tips on the end.

Long story short..... I had one come off a few days ago and it went inside my ear and had to go into the emergency department to get it removed and it scratched my ear drum and I've been having ear aches the last couple days from it. So I'd prefer not to get that type of headphone again.

Airpods seem like the obvious answer.

You should try them out to see if you like how they sound, but the aftershokz bone conducting headphones might work for you. Check out the aeropex or trekz.

I have ear problems and can't wear earbuds so I have the trekz bone conducting headphones. I really like them.

Powerbeats Pro is what I use. They got the over the ear hook so they stay very secure.

they're super comfy and sound amazing.



i prefer the non noise cancelling as i cant stand the feeling of pressure from the noise cancelling, but thats a personal preference of course

My wife loves her Beats Solo3 wireless headphones. She works out six days a week doing some pretty intense circuits, so those things see a lot of movement and they seem to be just fine for her purposes.

Depends on the exercise you do. I only walk and use an elliptical. I don't wall climb or do squats or any other kind of complicated exercise people with sexy bodies do

I bought a pair of skull candy indy’s and I hate them. They are hard to get out of the case and they don’t seem to fit my ear very well. They are deemed truly wireless so if I push a bud in my ear I run the risk of stopping my music. They also will sometimes not connect to my phone and they need to be repaired with my phone. To do that you need the case. Annoying when you are at the gym.

I have a pair of JBL wired buds ( the wire between the buds) they have been great over the past two months. Bought them at Walmart for $60.

I had a pair of monster wired buds, that were wireless and they worked fine, until one day they stopped working. Took me two months to work thru the warranty process. Finally got permission to return them to monster and now it seems as if monster is out of business, as my emails bounce back, and I can no longer get anyone on the phone.

I’m be wary of dropping $200 plus for beats unless they have a differ warranty process that is not handled by monster.

I got these for Xmas. Tried them out yesterday at the gym, am super impressed so far.

I have Jlab wireless ear buds, they’re great for what I paid for them (120ish). I use them for running outside / at the gym and at work. Never fallen out

I use Aftershokz for listening to stuff while I ride. Wanted to have my hearing available for when cars are coming to kill me. They’re awesome, don’t come off at all and fairly comfortable. The more expensive ones are much more comfortable than the cheaper version.

If you are open to a bud style, I wonder if original air pods would work for you - no silicone tip on them

I have the beats studio wireless. They are great for sound and some noise cancelling so I can't hear myself grunt or how hard I pound on the treadmill. My only complaint with them being the way they are is that my ears get very warm while wearing them. But they are super comfortable and great sound for me while working out.

I have a pair of the QC35, and I tried once to work out with them on.
They don't stay on when you get sweaty. If you were doing low intensity cardio you'd probably be OK, but if you're leaking a bunch and moving your head around, they'll be sliding around and falling off.

Yeah this is what I was going to say..got a pair of Beats specifically for the gym, but the Studio ones just make me sweat too much. I was worried I'd wreck them like that so I just went back to my usual bud-style earphones.

I think the Solo Beats would be good for the gym, that's what I originally got - the kind that sit on your ear, as opposed to the larger Studio ones. But I have kind of larger ears I guess, as the way they sat on top of my ear was very uncomfortable so I traded them in for the Studio pair. If you can handle Solo comfortably, they'd be great for the gym.

Airbuds definitely seem like the most portable, but they just look so silly..that and I feel like I'd lose one of them eventually.

Take an old hockey chinstrap and affix it to your over ear of choice. Start a trend.

For fit of silicone tips, I'd recommend comply foam tips. They come in various sizes (you'll need to know the headphone size first though). They're excellent and I use them with my in ear monitors.

If you want over the ear headphones for working out, take a look at Under Armour's wireless Sport Train by JBL. I received a pair for Christmas and I like them. They stay in place at the gym which is what I was mostly concerned with.
