Just goes to show the unreal markup on crap like this.

isn't it just an unwritten rule to never buy anything at full price at the bay since it will likely be on sale within a couple weeks?? same goes for toys 'r us.

Which is part of my gear grinder as well. I hate these ridiculously inflated "regular" prices only for the product to be consistently cycled through sales. Canadian Tire is brutal for this. Why regularly sell something for 40% to 60% off. Just set the price at what moves the product.

and Canadian Tire.

I know the last time I bought luggage was at the Bay on either Bay Days or Boxing day/week.

As mentioned above, goes triple for Canadian Tire. Want new pots and pans? Cast iron pan? Wait until it is 75% off. Because any pan at Canadian tire is 75% off 6 times a yeAr.

Because the perception of a sale moves that product even more. People want deals.

Agree with everything being said about luggage though. I could never imagine buying a full set for more than the cost of one item’s “regular price.” It’s so rare for it not to be on a steep steep discount.

I'm convinced it's literally impossible to pay "full retail price" at The Gap/Old Navy on anything. Listing the full price is just a marketing tactic.

I love on amazon when you look at an object in the 80% off filter. Regular price $100 for this computer cable, now $15.99. What knobs are falling for this? It's like when "Gold Plated HDMI" cables were like $250 for a 6 foot length at Best Buy. Same ones were 12 bucks at Alberta Computer Cables.

My preferred shoe company has spent the last few years going down a decidedly different path. Today they send a questionnaire, and it’s some of the worst looking products I ever seen.

Outsourced was one thing. Out to lunch is sad.

I don't know where else to put this.. last year on a visit to Colombia, I met a girl there and we've kept in touch. She lives in Medellin now but is from Cali in the south of the country. There's currently protests across the country regarding their deeply unpopular president, which for the most part have been peaceful, but in Cali it's turned violent and a curfew has been put in place.

I just spoke with her and it's like a terrifying movie..she sent me a video her cousin took of the rioting in the street outside their building, with the police firing off gunshots to try to dissuede the rioters..so crazy. Now she just said the rioters have officially broken into her mom's apartment building, where her mom and dog currently are..they're way up high in the building, hopefully that helps.. She just called the police who are currently overwhelmed, man..don't even know how to react aside from horror, as a Canadian I don't even know how to process something like that aside from trying to be supportive.

Stuff like that really puts things in perspective. We are SO lucky to live where we do. Remind me to stop complaining about minor annoyances in my day or sulking over an "off day" for a while..

Why is the city plowing the roads now? Everything is melting and I'm sure they could spend that money on something else. It can't be long until we hear that the snowfall budget has exceeded expectations again. Yet the main roads are largely clear and there are still plows out?

Remember when we had a big snowfall a few years ago and Calgarians whined and complained (plenty here as well) that their side roads weren't being plowed? The city put more money into snow removal and you end up with all these employees sitting on their hands and equipment idle when we are only getting typical snowfall. I see no reason to be adding any more salt and chemicals to the roads when we are in a thaw but I think these crews have to justify their jobs.

Vaseline has now replaced their lotion bottles with this new "trendier" design:

Except the smooth collar (and a plastic detent nub) means that you need pliers to take the pump assembly out to get at the last 5% of the bottle. Which most people don't keep in the bathroom.

This can only be a deliberate attempt to make consumers buy more often. Total gear grinder.

Ha ha, I thought I was the only one who tries getting the last 5% out.

I just go savage on the bottle. Ignore the pump mechanism.
Take a knife and cut a square out of the middle of it.
