That's the Hockey Writers not the Hockey News. No relation, I think?

Although TBF, the Hockey News is also trash these days.

Jiri is actually right. While the article linked is from the Hockey Writers, the primary source for this information is The Hockey News. The linked article is a secondary source and discussion about the subject of possible firings. Both articles are ####, but The Hockey News was the first turd in the punch bowl.

It should be noted, though, that article is from The Hockey Writers (which seems to be some independent writers' collective and not The Hockey News.

On topic - I think BT & Sutter get their 2 years to turn it around but no playoff wins = no contract extensions.
The original article that the thw one is based on and links to is from the hockey news

So to confirm, the team the missed the playoffs last year was just a few key depth players away from competing, after losing their former Norris winning captain to the expansion draft.

Ugh. 82 games of 2-1 or 3-2 hockey, with the occasional 6-0 dismantling at the hands of the Oilers. I'm turning off my automatic flames game record setting on my PVR.

I'm so done with Treliving. What an uninspiring offseason.

The offseason isn't over yet, put the pitchforks away.

I don't know man. We seem to be creeping pretty close to the end of it here.

Training camp and pre-season games are coming right up.

There are too many D men, something is going to go down. Nothing else makes sense.

Might not be time to take them out but I don’t think it would hurt to start sharpening them.

This has been a brutal offseason but the biggest fish is still in the pond and if the Flames pull in Eichel it completely changes the narrative.

I have been a Treliving supporter for the most part but the margins were really thin for me and I am not happy with how the offseason has gone. This might be the first time under Treliving where the Flames are worse on paper at the start of a new season.

I figured this thread would get bumped after these signings.

This team is shaping up to look like a dog's breakfast.

Even after underwhelming in the highly-competitive North Division this team looks like Treliving asking the fans to hold his beer.

I am fueling my torches.

The only upside is that the team will put some canucks and Oilers players in the hospital

I think this is the Flames’ way of being a bottom 5 team and having a chance at the 1st overall pick…

If they can actually catch up to them, that is. Holy **** this team is going to be slow.

I don't see any answer this team has to McDavid apart from "great save Markstrom!" or "great save Tanev!"

The coach wouldn’t even tank meaningless games at the end of a COVID season

They aren’t tanking. Believe it or not Gudbranson is part of a plan to WIN hockey games

There's always a few naive posters that see every crappy, unjustifiable move as part of some grand tapestry that the GM is weaving. "We're not done yet" "There's more to come..."

Would like to change my vote. Signing Gudbranson at $ 2 million is a fireable offense.

This is a classically constructed flames team. A "goldilocks and the three bears" scenario, if you will.

Not good enough to win.

Not bad enough to tank.

Just mediocre enough to finish on the playoff bubble and draft in the 10-15th range to perpetuate the cycle.
