Most of these batters would struggle to even get a hit off a tee ball. Just comically bad hitting when it matters.
Comes with years of experience to calm the young nerves more and more. While in no way I blame management for trying to go for it at the deadline, as they were within arms reach at the time, again, I chastise them for the price they paid for Berrios. Great you have him for next years' run, but that price was paid moreso from desperation. Most will disagree but if one of those prospects could've been kept, it would've been great leverage to make other deals. I still think it was a major overpay and can't be convinced otherwise.

I agree for the kids to a certain extent. But this team also has Springer(0-4), Semien(1-4), Teo(1-4), Grichuk(O-4). That's half your line up with plenty of experience going 2-16. The team on the whole is "young" but there is plenty of veterans that need to be better too.
Win tomorrow and its 4-2 against two poor teams. Lose and its a draw and a series loss to the worst team in the league.
Going out on a limb and saying its a must win tomorrow. Call it hyperbole or dramatic but you cant lose a series to the worst team in the league right now.

Im pretty high on the future and always thought this was a bit of a bridge year. The key for the Jays this offseason is going to be
- figure out how to keep Springer healthy
- Get another couple higher end Bullpen arms
- Hopefully Pearson stays healthy and makes some strides.
- Get Ray signed and the starting rotation looks pretty solid, Manoah take a step forward, Hopefully Ryu rebounds, Berrios finds his groove. Matz can stay. Pick up another proven arm if available.
- Make a couple upgrades to the fielders.
- Bichette and Vladdy can be a little more consistent with another season of experience.
- Upgrade the Manager
I think thats a playoff team.

The Jays need to build a winning Culture, You dont want to do what the Angels have done and squander the prime of a first ballet HOFer's career. Vladdy is that good.

Not hyperbolic at all because the reality is tonight was a must win. And they lost. At some point teams need to win games against lesser teams. And not just 2 in a row here, or two in a row there. But like 7, 8, or 9 in a row because that's what good teams do.
Such a wasted opportunity with the Yanks and Sox losing. Atleast Vladdy seems to be getting hot again. So that's something to cheer for.
If you'd told me at the outset that the Jays would win 86 games or so, I would have said that was about right.
But after watching them put up a +115 run differential so far, and having seen them blow so many close games, the fact that they are on pace to finish 86-76 is pretty much a bitter disappointment.
This should be a .590 win% or 95 win ball club with just a little bit more luck with bullpen injuries and a manager that isn't a complete moron.
Feels like they wasted an entire season, especially since our best starting pitcher and best position player are FA's this off season.
Ray and Semien are a combined 11.7 WAR. Going to be hard to replace that in the off season for the same cost.
Pearson pitched an inning for the Bisons today and struck out the side with some nasty stuff.
I wonder if Merryweather tweaked something? Odd that it's Baker instead of him getting promoted, but Baker has had a strong year for the Bisons and deserves a look.
I'm not sure, but I think he's another big reliever with a live arm.
