Vladdy is struggling at the plate yet the team has won 8 of 9. Great sign of a team that is poised for a continued run.

Houck had the Jays number last time they faced so could be another tight one tonight.

I missed the action, but why wasn't there a runner on 2nd in extras for Semien's homer?

Pitching adds have helped no doubt. But 8-1 back in Toronto, I think it was a TSN turning point.

Fair enough

And with Vladdy in a slump too.

The starting pitching has been amazing as well.

The bullpen adds have been huge. But I think the starting pitching is bigger - the addition of Berrios, along with the emergence of Manoah, gives them 6 starters, which has eliminated 'bullpen day' and significantly reduced the number of innings for the pen. Everything falls into place from there.

And yes, the Dome has given them a boost as well.

Rays OPS against in the seventh this year is 1.273. Aka the other team turns into a lineup of Barry Bonds. I’m perfectly fine taking him out after six especially since he was hardly even dominant today in the sixth. And no using Romano does not ruin the next game. Good managing there and some nice clutch hitting from Semien.

Except you have to know when your pitcher has it and when he doesn't. that is a big part of managing.

And yes, Romano is now not available for this game - unnecessarily

He barely got out of the sixth so I disagree with unnecessary. Tonight he definitely didn’t have it (at the time he was pulled it’s not like he struck out the side in the sixth) and I’m happy they used Romano to secure the win. And the stats show rather clearly on all situations Ray is awful in the seventh. It would be nice if just once maybe once you could give Montoyo/Walker the benefit of the doubt. Now I agree the Jays could certainly do better and Montoyo is a caretaker manager that should be replaced when they prioritize winning over development but I don’t see that this is the place where he made a mistake.

Tell you what - you keep supporting every single decision, and I'll keep criticizing the the ones I don't like.

Bummer.

Jays doing a good job of making Houck work though - 47 pitches through 2 innings

Fast moving game here... Houck throwing 20 pitches per inning and it's not even like he's getting bad results, 5ks through 3 innings.
