Speaking of red light cameras, the one on eastbound Country Hills Blvd at 14th Street is going crazy right now. I stopped at the intersection as the first car at the intersection yesterday and the camera took my picture. When two cars pulled up beside me in the other lines that camera flashed as well. Seems like it has a major calibration issue or something.

They’re in busier locations. The speeding cameras, placed like they are in Europe, are in much more discrete locations. Thus the ease for a cloaked crusader.

If it's a single flash, then nothing is going to happen to anyone. They'll do that sometimes if the induction loops thing you're going faster than you are, coming to a really quick stop will usually trip them.

I recall when Winnipeg first started using the intersection cameras, someone from Alberta took a shotgun to one of them because it caught him speeding through. The hilarious part of that is -- at the time -- Manitoba didn't have any agreement to forward on the tickets to out-of-province drivers, so the guy would have gotten away with the offense except that it recorded him shooting the camera.

I have to think the pushback from European citizens on them, would have to occur here too. Just need a safe opportunity for these vigilantes.

Well you know what they say, 28 is too few choices and 30 is too many. The real sweet spot for a good mayoral race.

We have 29 candidates but only really need one, Paul Hallelujah. Check out his "Ask Me Anything" on the Calgary subreddit, it's a total trip:

To save a few clicks, you can find gems like this question and answer:

If the race for mayor was actually a cage match against all the other candidates how would you fare ? Who would you try to take out first?

Mayoral Candidate

I'd eat all of them. Davidson and Farkas first. Then Jyoti

Like, fork and knife eat ?

Hehr dropped out of the mayoral race this morning.

Not sure how to link Twitter, but here's his statement

^^ I imagine it was difficult to put a stop to the runaway freight-train election momentum that Hehr carried in his 5 days on the campaign trail.

Good. Imagine if he did take away votes to make Farkass our next mayor?

They have until noon today to do it. Hopefully they're not lazy about it and actually withdraw rather than run a dead campaign. The ballot will already be ridiculous.

To clarify, by "drop" I mean either drop before noon, or run a campaign where they mail it in and tell people to vote for someone else.

Ha, 28 mayoral candidates. That may be a record for numbers and foolishness.

It seems the city changed their calibrations a year or so ago as if you stop anywhere near the line it will take your photo. I can trigger it at will just by stopping right at the line. Over the last year this has happened to me too many times to count but I have never received a ticket.

I can't wait to see how long our ballots will be with all the candidates and the referendum questions.

I was just going to post the same. Could be a logistical nightmare. A small book to file through?? Haha

The ballot is going to be longer than a Rona receipt
