Playing well and losing is a lot better than playing like #### and losing but this was a game the Flames should have had. Minny has half their top 6 and just played last night.
Backlund and Gaudreau were sub-Monahan-level soft out there tonight and especially in the dying stages of the third. Need a little more battle from them.

Why not? What has he shown that indicates he's a good coach?

Wild were a tired team playing their backup. Should've jumped on them early but the offense is misfiring, bad passes and not generating anything dangerous.
Smith played well was beaten by two good shots. Need an offensive spark ie Jankowski and it's kind of a joke he isn't here yet.

Played for 50 minutes this time. An improvement. Bennett was terrible once again. He needs to sit. Awful on the tying goal along with Gaudreau and Lazar but he's the center out there and he made a dumb play to give Minnesota the odd man rush.

The 3M line is underwhelming. Monahan was great and I hope Janko will be in for next game. Need some natural scorer in this team.

It's a bad team, with a lit of glaring holes. Smith has been great. Gaudreau is the only real offence on the team. D is overrated. Bennett looks beyond useless.
Very sad.

Deserved to win this one.
Though Trelivings "scoring" concern is starting to come to a head. Outside of Gaudreau and Monahan, nobody is really doing too much.
Also did Brodie play the whole game?

The drying paint Gulutzen loses another on home ice. Treliving will never own up to this mistake. Should be coaching in the ECHL.

I agree he made a poor decision there and that goal was on him. I’m starting to think that his IQ may limit him from a top six role.

Teams have figured the Flames out. Clog the middle and don't let them create off the rush. They have an ineffective cycle game so they have trouble creating chances. They have too many players not contributing on offense.

This team is so frustrating and weird. They show such great signs of being a great team, but they make dumbest mistakes. This team needs a spark on offense. One of the leading scorers in the AHL could help.

I often think this is just an aspect of GG's coaching. He wants the team to play a tight and systematic game, which looks great and is very effective when it's working the way it's designed to work. The problem with it is that because it's a tight systematic game there's little room for emotional rallying and stand-out individual performances that sway momentum.
I love their play when firing on all cylinders, but personally I also miss the emotional inspiration, both highs and lows, of the Hartley era Flames.

Flames have scored 3 goals in their last 3 home games, all losses of course.
Maybe one of, if not the best player in the AHL could help by playing the 3rd line C role which he's totally ready for instead of Sam "clearly not an NHL center" Bennett which would free up Tkachuk or Bennett to play top line RW instead of 3rd/4th liners like Ferland, Lazar or a 45 year old Jagr.
Just maybe.
But of course Glen "stick my head in the sand and hope the same old thing will finally work" Gulutzan knows better.
Another wasted year with GG 2.0 at the helm.

Based on what besides that face you've just decided he's a bad coach for no rationale reason?

Pretty typical game for GG. This is how his team's play, and it's why he has had no success as an NHL coach. His system is designed to try not to lose (i.e super passive and 100% positional based) instead of trying to dictate how the game is played and win. He's a joke of a coach and we will be mediocre as long as he is at the helm.

I just knew when I saw Alex Stalock in the net that he would have a huge night and steal the game. Sure enough, AHL caliber goalie looks like Carey Price in our barn.

The Flames deserves win that game for sure, but i’m pretty sure the Flames could take a deuce on a plate and you’d eat it all up and tell us how delicious it is.
