Mikkelson is a fantastic analyst. What a good add

I also like Gazdic more than I thought I would

I'm not too fond of Kadri being the player bringing the puck into the O-zone during the powerplay. If he isn't trying to do it all on his own by holding on to the puck and dekeing through the defenders, he completely telegraphs his pass as he crosses the blue line and it gets picked off and shot down the ice. It didn't have overly last night but it is one of the things that sucks about their PP this year.

One advantage in the tank for the Flames is that all of St.Louis, Minnesota, Seattle didn't move much and probably stay in that 90 point range. So the Ole here let three teams by pretty easy, and Buffalo and Jersey likely gets past too. So it will be 8 or 9 spot depending on Pittsburgh. After the Thursday game, things do lighten up schedule wise, so even a bad team can still get through that with a 7-8-1 record.

Agree that zone entries and establishing possession once gaining the offensive zone has been what's plagued the PP. That was Gaudreau's role, and for some time he had his struggles until he adapted. But they need to find a way to get someone who can gain the zone and keep possession until the rest of the unit can set up.

I thought Kadri had a tough game. Too much on his own and not using his teammates. I wonder if he's feeling the "it's all on me" pinch with the team weakened.

I think so, and I think Zary missing hurts him a lot.

Zary has been a pleasant surprise, he is a very smart player

I too think the Zary absence has been noticeable.

He's going to be an interesting player to watch. Flames need him to embrace his role as a leader by example.

The two on one where he was never going to pass and everyone knew it was maybe a sign of that. If Zary's there maybe he passes once off the get go. I always think there should be at least one pass on a longer two on one - otherwise you make it easier on the D and goalie. Carolina had a perfect example.
