In this day and age if ANY scout, GM, media member, league official, fan...had this information it would have come out a long time ago

His current club didn't even know about it

unfortunate, and hopefully not true

Well, maybe it’s just me but Flames fans are not exactly at the top of the list of people who bad things happened to in this incident.

TIL scouts are supposed to be private investigators and teams are required to know absolutely every single non-public thing about every single draft eligible player.

These threads don't even take more than a few minutes to get outlandish.

Why are they not following these kids around, hiding in the bushes!!!

The Flames european scouting has been pretty poor for some time but the fact of the matter is if the Flames didn't pick him, another team would have as it seems nobody in scouting circles knew about this or it would have surely come out. Still it's a big disappointment.

The Flames only have 2-3 dedicated scouts covering the entire continent of Europe. There is no way the Flames could have known unless Ronni proactively disclosed this to them or people around him, or if it was leaked to hockey circles (which appears not to be the case).

Suspected, but not convicted right?
These sorts of charges are concerning, but I will withhold judgement until due process is complete.

A. He has been charged of a crime, he has not been convicted
B. He does not seem to be to concerned about it so it may not be what people think it is
C. If his team knew about it and kept him around then it does not sound cut and dried
D. Have to love how little people want to wait on innocent until proven guilty
E. If you don't know the facts of the case then maybe you should leave the issue alone until they are revealed and you know the whole truth.

While tough to blame Treliving directly for this it happened under his watch not far removed from getting blinders on hiring a mediocre racist coach. Even if we do not blame him directly these things happened in a short timeframe under his watch.

It is baffling that he dumped the Flames and not the other way around.

When was the last time the Flames drafted a useful player from Europe again?

Another brownie point for the Flames European scout. With or without the charge, he doesn’t look like much anyway

Can we sell this club to Houston and acquire the Coyotes when they have to move? Calgary Coyotes works.

Imagine if every prospect had an investigation team from each NHL club watching them from the moment they hit puberty...The job creation statistics would be staggering.
Is there any other way to ensure the purity that the modern social media public demands?

Really, this is not an indictment on the Calgary Flames.

Just don't sign the player unless there is a high degree of certainty that the allegations have been proven to be false. Anything less than that, treat it like another draft pick bust.

This. Exactly this.

Lots of comments with absolutely zero actual knowledge. "Innocent until proven guilty" is more than just a casual phrase.

So many jumping to conclusions before any kind of statement from the Flames is released.

Doesn't seem fair to judge or to grab the pitchforks until more information comes out.

Just renounce the pick

Seems like a terrible prospect for a 2nd rounder anyways

Oh ya and fire Button. Not based on this but his body of work

You talk like half the prospects in the league are from Europe.

Anything to throw mud at the Flames eh?
