Hopefully both parties realize this.
We would probably have to offer up some picks or prospects for Seattle to take him but at least we probably won’t have to worry about him refusing to waive.

Lucic has a full NMC for all four years and a limited NTC for the final two seasons, but we'll see what happens with those. Knowing what we know of Treliving's opinion of NMCs, you'd have to think he'd want Lucic to waive it permanently, if possible.
I don't think Lucic is going to let himself be in a position to go to the AHL.

If Lucic can punch Neal and Smith at the same time, I'll be happy.

Stupid !@#$ing Neal jersey. You get donated this weekend.

I do have to laugh at Neal telling Smith to try and make an effing save is Oiler sweaters.

I love the message it send too. Under-perform and you go to Edmonton.

Tkachuk and a motivated Lucic on the same team is...terrifying.

Looks like the relationship between Neal and Flames was irreconcilable. I thought it made more sense to keep him and bank on a return to form rather than a garbage for garbage trade, but I'm speculating that the fracture was too deep.

Trying to be positive, but it's hard. I think Lucic's personality and toolset are what the Flames covet, and Neal seemed to sulk and accept his downfall.

Rumours of Neals attitude and poor relationship with Peters must have been true if they're willing to stoop this low to move him out

Well, Lucic had one less goal and one more point than Neal. Lucic had generally worse linemates. Neal had fewer games. Production wise IMO it's a wash. Same age.

I've heard a rumour from a fairly decent source about off ice issues for Neal, so there might be additional factors.

Plus, like I said above, the contractual details are key here.

Lucic should waive his NMC - when the expansion draft comes, it's not like he's going to get selected. He's old now, he'll be older then, and he'll be expensive. Why does Seattle take him?

Vegas has been a contender right out of the gate because they selected good players and not everyone else's misfit toys.

Like, Anaheim had to lose Theodore because Bieksa had a NMC. Vegas was never taking Kevin Bieksa because he had stopped being any good. He should have waived.

If Lucic wants some sort of no trade protections, fine. But he has to be coming here agreeing in Advance to waive for the expansion or this is bordering on a fireable offense. And I say that as someone who loves Tre's work.

Yin Yang Theory:

When Neal was signed last year, we all cheered "YAY!" and were then promptly disappointed.

With Lucic's arrival, we all say "BOOOO!" but then were pleasantly surprised.

$600,000 means the Flames save 375,000 in cap hit.

Why do you think that? I can't figure out why that is terrifying. A motivated Lucic isn't really going to scare anyone at this point.
