When this series started, I was hoping for a grueling 7 game series where the two teams wore each other down, giving the Flames an advantage in the second round. Whether the flames make it to the second round is another story, but Vegas has done a good job of thinning the SJ ranks (Vlasic, Haley) , and it is looking to end in 5 or 6. We need SJ to win a couple games and extract a toll on Vegas. VGK isn't looking too banged up, though who knows unless you are inside the dressing room.
Recognizing if the flames don't beat the Avs then who cares....

SJ just looks like complete garbage. Can't defend, goalies can't make a save. You can see the players have lost all confidence.

Seems identical to the Flames right now minus the goalie not being able to make a save.
If Vegas wins this series, they will have matched in two years what the Flames have accomplished in the last 30 years (One Stanley Cup appearance and one second round appearance). Let that sink in for a minute....

Well they have surpassed many teams already going to the finals. The Leafs haven't been there since the 60s.
Desirable market, best expansion rules...they are always going to have high end players wanting to play there. Salt in the wounds they don't have to give Seattle a player, what a joke.

Yeah but having the ability to pick and choose your players through the expansion draft can build you a really good team without much guess work.

Goddam it, I have to stop making predictions, or even implications. It always goes the other way.

Knights are pissed at the 5 minute call on Eakin, noting that the injury to Pavelski was accidental and didn't deserve that 5 minute call.

"They called five minutes for that?" Marchessault said. "Why don't you have hockey replay or something? It changed the whole outcome of the game. Seriously. What is that?
"It's so disappointing. The game is not even close, it's 3-0. Call the two [minutes], OK, but a five? With something you don't even see? You just called the outcome. It's a joke, that's what it is. It's embarrassing."

I mean, I get the comment about the call being bogus. It kinda was. But still, you let in 4 power play goals on one power play. Maybe develop a better penalty kill? Maybe Fleury can make a big save there? He didn't look great on most of those goals.
At least the Sharks' Gaudreau/Goodrow showed up in a big game.

Naw the Vegas inability to kill the penalty doesn't let the NHL off the hook for a terrible call just like the reverse is also true. It was a bad showing by both parties and good on the Sharks for taking advantage of the situation.
If that call went against the Flames I'd have been breathing fire over it. Hell I was mad about it right when it happened let alone how everything unfolded after that.
Anyway just a crazy ending. One of the most memorable Game 7's ever, to be sure.
