This is awful, but a good awful if that makes sense.
For comparison, the video of McDavid meeting Katz is awful, and it's the awful kind of awful. I literally can't watch it.
About right, for the leagues biggest goddamn drama queen. Conna wouldn’t have even mentioned the memorial if the Oilers had won the game. Typical Edmonton Oilers bull####!!!

They basically picked up another dofus. They didn't fill any real holes, didn't help their forward group that outside of the wonder twins activate is pretty moribund.

Do they still have their 6 Giordanos? Can’t upgrade on that.
Glad that rumoured Oleksiak deal never happened. That would have been a solid addition.
I am glad too, but I also think that Oleksiak is not going to turn that team from first round fodder to a long playoff run. I was hoping it did go through as it just further wastes Edmonton's assets.
I like Oleksiak as a player, so I don't have to really hate him now, so that's good I guess.
I thought that I was just messing around with the old “nhl boogeymen out to get the oilers”, but terry jones goes farther and names the nhl scheduler boogeyman and even comes up with a name for it! “Rescheduled losses”. Jones probably got a free double order of fries with his Bobby Nick burger for this article.
And a free nap on the Katz casting couch.

Thanked for using the word moribund successfully.

The Athletic listed their 2021 Trade Deadline winners and losers, and (as we already knew) Oilers were listed as a deadline LOSER:

Losers: Edmonton
We like the addition of defenseman Dmitry Kulikov and he’s had a nice season for New Jersey. But when you watched teams like Toronto and Tampa Bay employ other teams to make significant adds even though they faced dire salary cap situations, it seems like the Oilers, who desperately need some top-six help up front, allowed their competition in the North to step forward while they stood still. This is still a team ponderously top-heavy and inactivity at the deadline will only bring that into sharper focus come playoff time.
Canucks have to play 19 games in 31 days and the Oilers are the ones complaining lol
The Oilers weren't complaining about the amount of games in days. Emily Cave scheduled the memorial which was known around the league as teams and players, and players wives tuned in and sent gifts (Vegas, Boston, Chicago among others) and 4 days later the NHL put it on the same day when it could easily have been played the following day on Sunday. It's just the timing of it. McDavid and the Cave's are really close and the emotion of seeing a friends memorial got to him. Personally, I do feel the game could have been played on Sunday as well but the outcome wouldn't have changed and that's not what was being challenged.
No excuses whatsoever. The Oilers got badly outplayed and deserved to lose.

I think it's fair. I liked the Kulikov acquisition however I do think 1 move at forward needed to be made. Hall was a non-starter as he said Boston was the team he wanted to go to and he turned down offers from the Islanders, Washington, Vegas among 2 others. Blues wanted to hang on to Hoffman since they fought back for a playoff spot. Oilers were in the dollar in dollar out scenario but it would have been nice to add a forward and in particular a top 6 winger.

Oilers needed a top 3 winger to have any chance in the playoffs.
