I noticed whenever there is a football game on in the background on Ozark, it is the CFL. Must be cheaper for those rights.
That's in a lot of shows and movies over the years. No reason to pay the high rates for NFL games being shown on a TV in the background. Canadians notice what it is, Americans will just think some college teams or something.
The Hall announced its Class of 2021 on Tuesday with players Will Johnson, Nik Lewis, Orlondo Steinauer, Mike Walker and Don Wilson, and builders Marv Levy and Doug Mitchell set for enshrinement in Hamilton.
Some great Stamps content this year. Who would have thought back in '05 when Nik, Copeland, Rambo, and all were the talk of the league with their talk and celebrations that he'd turn into a HOFer soon after retirement?

My favorite Nik Lewis memory is from his last year when he was on the Als. He was on the injured list or scratched from the game when they came to Calgary. About an hour before the game on the west side parking lot he showed up randomly at our tailgate and enjoyed a cold one and a burger with us Tailgaters. The man certainly loved playing here!

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s reborn XFL and the Canadian Football League could be cooking up their own version of the Super Bowl.
The XFL and CFL have been in negotiations to “collaborate, innovate, and grow the game of football,” according to the two leagues. Among options on the table: a postseason clash between XFL and CFL champions.
Here’s how it could work, a source told Front Office Sports: Both leagues would play their regular seasons — there could be “interleague” games, similar to MLB — and once the respective XFL and CFL champions are crowned, they’d face off in an interleague championship game.
There could also be an “All-Star Game” pitting players from both leagues. The long-term objective: the merger of the two pro football leagues.
Schedule overlap is a big one too. I'd think the XFL would want to be a spring league with its season over well before the NFL season starts, which doesn't really work for the CFL.
Playing the bulk of the season in February/March/April in outdoor stadiums on the prairies would really help kill off interest in the league in Canada. Running the playoffs and championship head-to-head with the Stanley Cup playoffs seems like a bad idea too.

In theory, a XFL/CFL playoff would be interesting, but the logistics make it seem improbable regardless of how many downs you play.
Also, I can understand trying to create your own “Super Bowl”, but I’m sceptical how many would actually care let alone watch.
XFL will only work as a spring/summer league because they can’t compete in the fall/winter with NCAA and NFL. CFL will only work as a summer/fall league due to weather. What I could see is XFL and CFL teams being “affiliated” to try and generate interest on both sides of the border. Not sure how many games you could handle between the two leagues — it would be unrealistic for a player to play 16 XFL games followed by 16 CFL games — but having some crossover might keep things interesting.
Still they haven't addressed the obvious hurdles of
field size, rule differences, ratios if any, currency issue, etc
If they take this to 4 down football (and all that comes with that)and no Canadians.....they will be done within 3 years imo.
Those decisions will determine if this 50-year fan remains a fan. American rules, different ratios for Canadian and American teams, etc. and I’m done and they’ll guarantee the league dies, a result they’ll just prolong for a couple of years.

I think they would do the loan if the CFL would be transparent and open their books.
I can't blame them for not giving out loans to business that won't disclose financial information. The CFL has long conducted their business in a shady manner. It's 2021 and they still don't list player salaries or have any form of salary cap tracking seeing it's some cooked up formula that only a handful of people in the CFL office know about.

The other depressing thing is that it's one year later and Ambrosie and company don't seem to have any other plan other than a government bailout/loan. I mean, if there's any other strategy to help get the CFL (lottery for example) through these troubled times, it would be nice to hear about it.

To be honest Ambrosie should just get into politics as it seems he fits right in with all the parties with no plan outside of spending taxpayer money to the benefit of their parties.

I'm not defending Ambrosie, but for a gate driven league that's been declining badly for a decade I don't think there could possibly be any other plan that would make any sort of dent in not having gate revenue for 1.5 years.
That's a death blow to pretty much any league in this position, without government aid.
